^^ Yeah I agree, countless times I called Ray and just simply describing what I need he immediately knew exactly what I was talking about. He knows RX-7's inside and out and he is always my first choice when it comes to OEM parts. When you think about it it really is a privilege having someone like Ray on our side.

Sad news... But waiting to see how things pan out. Ray is the man when trying to find tough parts and also insight to what will be discontinued and such. He is SOOOO much more than good prices on factory parts, it would be terrible to lose him as an asset to the community.

It's crazy to me that no one on this forum seems to have a Mazdaspeed account. Do like two autocrosses and you get an online parts catalogue with diagrams, inventory checking, and pricing that no one else gets close to. It's like 10-20% cheaper than even the big internet operations.
WTF. If you're spending any real money on OE stuff it's the best option.

I had the MazdaSpeed racers account and bought extensively from them many years ago, when rebuilding interior and a spare engine with new parts.
Their prices are great until you add the tax and S&H, then savings is not that much.
And yes, they do have/had a "still building my car", but don't know, if they still do.
Call them and find out.

Keep us posted on where Ray ends up. I agree with Rich that much of the value was in the fact that I knew I could call him, tell him what I needed over the phone, and in 2 mins he'd have a price for me and have it sent out later that day. Hell, I've ordered $8 parts from him before and paid $10 shipping to get them because it was worth it to know it was right the first time and be done with it.

My guess is he's selling at, or near, wholesale and can't advertise those prices publically.
Also, Malloy is bigger than Mazda and he'd occasionally work out of Mitsubishi (and probably others). The million dollar question is he more loyal to Mazda and the community or Malloy if he has a job there.

"Keep in mind you're getting much more from Ray than just cheap parts guys.
Not pointing this at any one person in particular, but allow me to get up on my Soapbox:
It seems like in today's day and age, all that many people care about is 'Low Price.' They don't care about service, knowledge, dependability, quickness of delivery, establishing a relationship with a trusted advisor. To me this is all very valuable.
I think personally that 'Low Price' as the Number 1 buying decision is dangerous. I've had many people over the years come to me for all sorts of advice regarding mods and parts, then buy elsewhere in order to save a buck. To me, that is complete horseshit, and I've changed the way I deal with people accordingly. I value my time very much, and have learned not to waste it on those who don't value my time as much as I do."
I've bought from Ray a few times, and he's always been helpful and quick. I'm not sure if I ever checked pricing. Too many people discount the value of a relationship- having been on the sales side, I always tried my best to help. When I found the customer didn't value a relationship, their requests always went to the bottom of the pile.

^ New sales technique.
Never met a salesperson yet that didn't think the "sale" was about them.
