Question - 99 Spec Brake Ducts

Hi guys,

I'll be purchasing some '99 spec components from Shine Auto in the near future, my questions is how many of you guys that have the '99 front end get the air guide as well as the brake ducts? Are they worth getting?

The air guide is mounted inside the bumper to shuffle air to the correct areas, i think its a bit larger openings than the 93 one.
When i did my conversion i got all the factory pieces, down to the air deflector that bolt under the undertray.

for the $$$ they're selling now, to me is not worth it ... you can alway custom a air pipe to the brake...especially no one gonna see it when is tuck inside the bumper.

Thanks for the info guys!
Its definitely more money than I was expecting, but I’m willing to spend the cash on it.

New 99 spec brake ducts (left and right) from Mazda Motorsports are only $142.

The most important aspect is that they close off the intake in the lip, so that the ground wont show through those holes. Small detain but it makes a huge difference.

Another question on the 99 spec brake ducts...
Do they work with the 99 spec lip mounted to a pre-99 aka 93-95 USDM front bumper?
Do they mount using the same holes?

I removed my 99 bumper cover last month and it looks like it mounts on the factory oil coolers (see pic). Also maybe 1 or 2 bolts onto the lip.

If you're doing a conversion that'll run $1000+ - why skimp on the brake ducts? Seems like a weird place to try and save $150 considering the overall cost.

Are all the 99 spec front end parts available on Mazda Motorsports?

I really like how you put the mesh for the inlets. I was planning on doing the same. Where did you get those from btw?

Since I'm still using 93-95 oil cooler ducts for my 99 bumper, I didn't want to spend any money on the Rmagic 99 Oil Cooler Ducts...so as a precaution, against rock chips, I zip tied gutter guards from Home Depot to the oil coolers. The center is held by the bumper cover alone and 3 of the bottom clips to stop it from sliding out. Here's a link, only $3.08 and you need only 2 of them.

Cutting them took some patience...
