Pls verify fuel pump assembly is correct

Sorry for the noob and paranoid question.
when I pulled the old pump out of the tube it left the rubber o ring and plastic nipple inside. I used a screw driver to get them out.
Replacement is as the picture shows. The split plastic piece followed by the rubber o ring, and finally the plastic nipple. I am a little paranoid because the assembly order seems rather odd to me and I have never installed a fuel pump in my life. Please see pics and let me know. I have not started her yet and want verification before I turn the key.

Thanks for any help!!!!https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c6dbffb41c.jpg

I then basically lubed the o ring and shoved it up the tube :naughty:

I probably should have cut the flared portion and used the rubber hose attachment, but I wanted to keep it kind of stock. If it is ok the way it is I will leave it be.

which part? That I should have cut the metal tube and went with rubber hose? Or I have everything installed correctly?? 😁

Anyone know what the accordion/threaded looking little rubber piece is for? It was left over :) https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...0eabf2a2e6.jpg

The kit provided is for if you dont use any of the washer or plastic bushing things, you can cut the flare off the fuel tube..and just use the hose clamped to it. And the other end same way clamped to pump tube

THX kensin,
I may go back, pull her out, cut flare and use hose. Seems like it would have better flow that way. Thx for your time.

Np. I might do the same thing lol

Flow wise there won't really be a difference. The O-ring is how it was originally designed, that setup works well and will seal up properly.

No sense in making more work with hacking up the fuel pump hanger. Grease up the o-ring, put the fuel pump in there, done.

And, yes, you have the correct order of assembly in the picture.
