Photos for Fast and Furious fans
Years ago I saw an RX7 stored at a dyno shop near Los Angeles. I forget if the car belonged to the shop owner or if he was storing it for someone. I think he said it was one of the cars that was used in the movie somehow. I never saw the car run, I don't remember if he mentioned the engine condition.
I was reminded of the car after seeing this video by Craig Lieberman on youtube: Attached are a few photos I took at the time, in case these are interesting to anyone. Some of the photos have filedates of 2010, and others 2013. From what I remember, Supra prices were climbing but RX7s were still pretty affordable at the time. That might have been when remanufactured engines were available but inconsistent quality. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...e49269b18d.jpg filedate was 2010-April https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...eb3212ba36.jpg filedate was 2013-March https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...78dda719e9.jpg filedate was 2013-March https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...9c64dca03d.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...0d17487fe5.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a79c74191f.jpg |

Very cool.

Well, the ECU is good at least.

I picked up a few diecast of that car recently and was wondering if any RX7club OG were involved in supplying the car for the movie.
I saw some discussion in that regard in an old tuner mag that had an early discussion about Sevenstock. That would very interesting to hear the backstory. @goodfella Those are great pics and very intriguing. I note the car seems to have Speedline MAG-R wheels (which were also used on period Ferraris). I note the carbon dash cluster surround @tomsn16 . Jim T has one for sale atm at $75. maybe he should hike the price? This pic makes me regret selling my Veilside Combat kit a few months ago. |
Based on the diecast, somebody likely swapped out the wheels (understandably). On the other hand, the Diecast interior may not be an authentic match. (The diecast is a 1;18 "Racing Champions" model bearing the Universal Studios trademark.)

The diecast's engine bay is also black. In the pic of the engine bay above, you might be able to read the VIN Number. If so it would be interesting to run a carfax search on the car.
The picture of the ecu seems to show some Montego Blue paint in the background. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...e3780206be.jpg |
