Mazdaspeed sway bars
So after seeing a rear one sell in the classifieds recently for something like 500$, it prompted me to figure out why. I haven't been able to figure out what makes the bar so valuable other than a lot of technical and testing information about the bar in various places. From what I understand, it wasn't a limited production part or anything like that. Other than the seemingly superior performance of the bar vs all others, is there something I'm missing that would contribute to it's value?

what makes a JDM cluster that says "mazdaspeed" on it worth over 1000$
|
it says Mazdaspeed! and we do have all the specs on them too, which is really nice.

It's the name.......just like my comparison of the intake elbow/compression tube; Greddy costs $110......FEED costs $280......

They are not just a name IMO. They are a clean install, gorgeous, and the only aftermarket option that takes into consideration the rear tonneau cover mount and function. I cannot think of anything that comes close in the looks category, everything else either looks like it is for a straight up racecar, or ricey.

Some bushings and possibly the sway-bar mentioned by the OP offer some performance over ‘stock’, most everything else is just cosmetics. And I never heard if anyone found the upgrade in a MS PPF other than a cool red paint color. |
I'm talking about the sway bars.... under the car. Not the strut bars in the car. I can understand those because of the looks, I agree. They're very nice.

This post is a bit confusing:
Mazdaspeed sway bar: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...e374e98752.jpg Mazdaspeed strut tower brace: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...76b84704eb.jpg |
My mistake, i should have clarified. I figured the sway bars wouldn't be confused with the strut bars but terminology is what it is. I am talking about the sway bars under the car that attach to the control arms

Similar to my last post don't think it is just a name for these either. Have had these MS sway bars as well, they just feel like they were forged by the gods when you have them in your hand. "je ne sais quoi" The under car braces also leave this same general impression. When installed on a car, I can't say that they made a huge difference but they felt nice. |
But $500 nice? Apparently MAZDA played with the wall thickness of their stock rear sway bar so depending on what year your car is the difference might not be as apparent. And RB makes an adjustable one. |
Its just a swaybar.

Wouldn't be surprised Mazdaspeed has taken one of the 4(?) stock bars - probably the original thick one - painted it blue and charged the gullible a premium. |
