March-April 2017, a great time for my FD R1
1 Attachment(s)
The R1 turned 25 years old in March.
Took it in and had the non emissions safety check here in Texas for older cars. Only cost $7. Immediately took the results and Tx. Classic Auto paperwork in to the tax office and applied for Texas Classic Auto plates. They arrived yesterday. No more worries about passing emissions testing with my single turbo RX-7. |
Congrats and happy driving!

Yours is a 93 correct? I'm the guy that bought your midpipe and I'm still failing the sniffer test ( I haven't put it on yet, waiting for my catback). Reason I asked is mine is a 93 and they still testing me for emissions...
|
My RX-7 is a FD or third gen. It was made in March 1992. It is best to not refer to them as 93s since they first came out in Nov. 1991.
This also confuses the inspectors. Year of manufacture is what counts for emissions. The inspection stationed told me that the car should not have said 93 on the title since it was made in 92. Even when I talked to a person at the tax office last year, he said the manufacture year governed the inspection process and to just point this out to them. |
Where can I find the documentation to prove the manufacturer date?
|
It should be on the door jam sticker.
Chuck, glad to hear your car is still truckin'! Hope you can make it to DGRR this year! Dale |
Huh, mines 3/92 as well. You didn't have any further documentation to provide the inspection station? Just gave them a good earful lol
