Jdm Rhd Sunroof?

Did the JDM version of the 3rd Gen Rx-7 have a sunroof option? I am in the market for an imported right hand drive model but all that I have come across have no sunroof / moonroof. I would like to know specifically for the 91-94 years.

JDM versions 1 - 3 spanning Oct 1991 through Dec 1995 all offered sunroof models.
Unfortunately, parts catalogs don't state which models parts are for.
Sorry I couldn't offer more info than that.
You could try asking on the Australian or Canadian sub forums here, or other rx forums in Australia.

I dont know if all of them have them, but the Type X was available with a sunroof.

Early JDM models are like so:

Type S - in between R and X for sports/comfort at/mt
Type R - dual oil coolers, spoilers etc. like US R1 model. Mt only
Type X - leather, sunroof, bose, at/mt. Like the US touring model.
Type RZ - type R with recaros, 17” bbs, bilstein etc

Just anecdotal of course, but I import a fair amount of FD3S parts from Japan and of the RAREST things to see is a sunroof RX7. I have no idea what the production numbers are, but it's gotta be 10:1 non-sunroof at LEAST (probably more like 30:1).

That makes sense as the Type X was the most expensive option (almost $6k difference between the entry Type S and a manual Type X). In addition to the things I mentioned above, it also came with cruise control, driver side airbag and the more fancy climate control.

That's really interesting! I've noticed the same thing just anecdotally, seems like the sunroof would be more popular.

Funny thing is I totally dig a sunroof but I don't fit in the car for shit if it has a sunroof (I'm 6'6"). If I was a short Japanese dude I would be rocking that sunroof.

^^^Usually find sunroofs suck in warm climates, it's normally people in the higher latitudes who go nuts for them I notice.

Rx7 being predominantly a dry, fine day car and driving around say at the height of a Tokyo summer day with lots of humidity, an open sunroof probably wouldn't get too many ticks in the option box as a desirable choice, even if you're a tiny bugger.

Did have a sunroof off an X type and have one off an AU car now(all those came with one) if you absolutely must have one!

I'd expect most 91~94 cars to have been cut in half and exported by now. :gwink:

"1998" was the last FD produced with a sunroof. See my car for reference, the seat belts say manufactured in 1998.

It is impossible to identify Japanese cars by "Year" or the flat earther term "series" see this link for why, but typically they were "1991-1998".

1型 Type X had a steel sunroof and auto air con with bose, came in both manual and automatic trans

2-4型 Touring X had a glass sunroof and auto air con with bose, all were automatic trans

Were way more expensive new, and are all extremely rare.
