Interior black plastic clips easily/cheaply available

Hey guys -

Found this today -

I bought a bag of these a while ago from the ass-end of the Internet. Now, they have these from clipsandfasteners.com and CnF is also selling them on Amazon.

25 clips for $12, that's really hard to beat.

These are the clips that hold the kick plates in and numerous other things on the interior, they are frequently broken and missing. New ones are SO nice.

Nice find. You have way too much time on your hands :)

DaleClark 08-06-17 06:44 PM

Haha :). It's called I needed some for the project car I'm working on, found a new source, and posted it up.

By the way, you would be shocked with how many times I sit down to google info or how to do something and find an old post on the topic that I wrote. It's often for my long-term benefit :).

Damn it. I've crawled through old 90's MAZDAs that smelled like...well you know, at the u-pull-it yards in search of these. Managed to have a collection of a dozen or so spares. Ordering them BRAND NEW would have been SO much easier and I wouldn't have felt like I needed a shower afterwards.

Great find!

Are these the smaller clips that attach the ECM cover, or the larger ones that attach the rear plastics and bins?

I can't remember, I think they're the longer ones. They seem to work most anywhere I've put them, though.

These are super cheap on ebay. £3.99 posted :icon_tup:.

Pretty much all the Mazda fixings are there.

One thing to look out for is Mazda also made the same clips but in a grey color. Those seem to be easier to find.

Also, one thing that REALLY sucks is there is no easy source for the 93 tan clips. I hope Mazda still has them but I've never seen them aftermarket.

My next question deflated as easy as it arose. Wah wah

Wow, I just browsed the clipsandfasteners.com site; there is a ton of good stuff there for Mazda. Like the headlight bucket retaining springs and plastic sockets that someone was asking about awhile back. I'm going to pull some push pins and those plastic headlight sockets (mine are loose fitting), take some measurements, and get some parts ordered!

Fantastic, no longer need to pay $2.00 each for these small parts from the dealer or be told they are NLA and have to jury rig something!

Unfortunately, unless I missed them, I didn't see what I need...the clip-in hanger for the hatch cover cord.

That's a difficult one.

Sgtblue 08-07-17 12:08 PM

Yeah...back to the salvage lots. The Probes used the same hanger but all I've been able to find are gray and tan versions.

The pegs that old the cargo cover up in the rear hatch are fd01-68-301 02 and they're $2.25 for Ray. But, you have to pay shipping.

Big trick I learned on those is to remove them - rotate 90 degrees and the come right out.

BTW the tan clips would be B467-68-AC3-33 (the 33 at the end for tan) but I don't think they are available.

Even more rare would be the red clips, -17 at the end.

Sorry for the thread jack but I thought I would add to this...

Using the helpful information in this thread, I ordered a box of the B467-68-AC3-02 (product code A21858) interior push pin clips from clipsandfasteners.com, as well as a box of the G032-68-865A-00 (product code A21560) trunk carpet press-in clips. Both seem to be identical to the OEM parts, except for price.

I also seem to be always needing more front inner fender liner clips and am tired of paying $2.50 every time I need a new one, so I pulled one from my car, measured it, and based on that I ordered a box of B100-68-675-69 push-type trim retainers from clipsandfasteners. The dimensions matched up, and they looked the same but there was a critical difference in that the push-in screw diameter was much smaller on the parts I bought compared to the original. The net difference was that the clip inner pin did not expand as much and was a loose fit. Fail. I emailed clipsandfasteners customer service with some dimensions and asked for help identifying a better part but no response. Fail again.

Then, I looked up the part number of this part, which is NA01-56-145, and did a quick Google. Success! Available from Amazon, box of 25, for $5.49 with free shipping!

The photo of the clip looks correct, with the larger diameter screw. I have a box on order, and hopefully this will do the job!

08/18/17 EDIT: I received the clips yesterday, 25 of them in a bag. They are not exactly identical to the OEM Mazda clip, the differences are that the surface texture of the exterior part has a grain finish whereas the OEM part is smooth. No big deal there, the part just holds the fender liner in and you really can't see the difference unless you get very close. The other difference is the push-pin screw - the screw from the generic part is longer, it has an unthreaded part that extends forward a few mm beyond where the threaded part ends. This is actually an improvement. The extra length of the push pin seems to assist with extracting the pin when you want to unscrew it and remove the clip. Otherwise, they seem to be functionally identical, and the generic clip snaps in nice and tight. So for the price of 3 OEM clips, you can get a bag of 25, enough to refit your fender liners with all new clips.

Those are still available new from Mazda, Ray's prices aren't too bad on them and you only need two :)
