I completely agree. That seller basically screwed themselves

Anyway - my guess is $32k/$26k (that’s compression test/no compression test). Can I do that?

lol
Actually if you look at the times posted, we are both at 12:48 so were just seconds from each other...

Anyway my prediction for this BaT auction is $33K AFTER the seller provides a compression test. Otherwise $25.6K.

^Also true.

I'm almost kicking myself for not bidding on this one.... Almost. What kept me from bidding was: (1) I don't like tan interiors, (2) Prefer a non-sunroof FD for the track day helmet clearance (3) Car was located on the wrong coast + BaT buyer's fees + DIY time & expense of required refresh work. Worst case, this one will soon need a new short block & all the necessary under hood reliability mods + possibly lots of new interior plastics - couldn't really tell on the last item as the pictures sucked! I like FDs, but not that much to be worth the risk/expense.

What's the story with that car-phone on the '95 PEP? There was never a dealer option for that, right?

I'll say 32 on this one: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-mazda-rx-7-7/

I don't think time of year is a big deal. The obvious HUGE difference maker on these auction sales is the condition of the car which of course is heavily dependent upon mileage, location, storage etc...etc...

Had the seller of the last car posted compression and it was low, mentioned the paint job was a 2900 maco job etc... the car may have sold for 16 or less. In other words whoever bought the car took a big risk.

This is your typical well kept/garaged CA FD. In other words it looks great and IMO is easily worth 10k more than the last one. So I don't think it will have a problem reaching the 30k mark. I bet it purrs at 750 rpm and the compression comes back very good.

PS.......if it was CW 40k plus hehe

I completely agree. If the last one was a $19.5K car this should easily get into the low-mid 30's. Appears to be a very well kept, one-owner car. Last one was not well kept, 5 owners and had many potential, costly issues. Very likely needed $10K+ invested to get it to the level of this latest car and doubt it would still equal this one.

I completely agree with you both regarding the 95' FD on BAT. This has to be the best opportunity I have seen on BAT to acquire an FD in the most ideal dream circumstances. Original owner, mature, low mileage, professionally maintained, garage kept and unmolested. This one is going to be one to watch. Just wish it was an R2 with black interior and I would be giving it a go. I'll be cheering it on in a few days.

It was such a nice example I was coming here to post the BAT listing but you boys beat me to it! I figured, if there was an FD lover that was deserving of this example that someone here on the forum would be interested and deserving of a clean one.

Definitely not a dealer options. I feel bad for prospective purchasers, if that panel is drilled for the phone that's a few hundred bucks for a used panel right off the bat.

I asked the seller the question about the brick phone install - answer was the cradle is mounted to the console with 2 screws, he says about 1/8 diameter. So you'd be looking at replacing the plastic panel(s) underneath that thing. Hopefully the wiring for power on that thing wasn't a horrible hack job that would be difficult to undo.

BTW, this one is up to $26K already, and there's still 5 days to go...

I noticed some normal road rash on the nose and behind the front wheel wells but if that center console panel is the only issue this is going to be an epic buy for the new owner. Which reminds me to check and see if those compression results have been posted.

^ You can still buy new center consoles (94/95 finish) for under $100. I picked up an extra one from Tasca Parts. I think Pete needs to buy the current BAT FD and then drive it to this year's DGRR.

Looks like I'll be driving my FC to DGRR again, which is fine by me. This one is going to go for a stupid high price - last I checked, $26K was high bid with 5 more days to go. Add in shipping from the left coast, BaT fees, and the fact that this one isn't my favorite color combo and it has a sunroof, and I'm out.

Well, your FC is beautiful and a pleasure to see. I'll be at DGRR with my father in law. Hopefully the FD will cooperate and experience no issues. Always seems to be something.

^That's for sure, the price we pay for modding our cars. Sometimes I feel mine was more fun when it still had the stock ECU. Over the summer I had an annoying intermittent issue with my AEM Infinity, where the car would randomly go super lean and die. It only did that while cruising around town in vacuum, never under boost. After too many hours spent reviewing logs, I tracked it down to a bad MAP sensor.

^ Glad you got that figured out. My current issue deals with fuel pressure and like you, a resulting intermittent lean condition at certain RPMs under vacuum. Going to take the car back over to Addicted Performance to diagnose and fix.

YEP. Totally agree. There are already several other FDs I'd buy at 30k starting with my own SSM base

If this one is available you should consider it. Likely equally as clean. Just needs a detail.

^Thanks Fritz - that one looks promising, and close enough to drive home. It's still on original rubber, so it will need tires ASAP, and it's still a MB/tan interior/sunroof car (not my 1st choice), but definitely worth a look!

i cant help but notice that black interior cars in good condition are easily fetching 2-3k more than tan interior cars. which is interesting considering in the 94-95 years its only the seats and carpet.

YEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd value a 93 vs 94 5k. The two cars literally drive completely different. One drives like a rattling tin can and other feels much more European or solidly built and it's virtually the same car just lots of insulation/sound deadening stuff built into the 94. Add in a higher quality interior consoles etc... (yep the trans tunnel cover has more support or doesn't crack as easily). The glove box is built much better etc... YEP like a lot of us I like the look of the 93 interior including the smooth consoles and the dash w/o the air bag but the built quality is superior in the 94 and therefore I prefer 94 cars for the interior alone but also many other reasons.

94 vs 95 2k. No EGR, improved ABS, probably few other things and of course the latest model.

Black vs tan interior in a 93 4k or more. Tan interior plastic pieces are very difficult to keep looking clean or not dingy and tan just isn't as preferred as black.

Black vs tan in a 94 2k. Yep it's just seats and carpet but good luck trying to find a nice black carpet and black seats.

MB vs CW at least 10k. White is the new black or everyone just loves white cars at this time and there were very few white FDs made/rare.

Touring vs Base 2k or more. Base/R1/R2 cars are my favorites and I'd pay 5k more for the right one. I can't stand the look of the sunroof on an FD, I don't use them and I don't like the extra weight (i think it's only about 20 pounds but still there) but most importantly the beautiful double bubble roof line is just gorgeous and I don't like the sunroof messing up great art. Also harder to find or back to supply and demand/rarity.

Bottomline: if you like an MB and tan 93 touring model you are in luck or it's likely the least expensive FD.

PS I believe the most valuable FD today is a low mileage SSM 95 R2 that's bone stock.
