I'm a baby boomer, and pretty much everyone in my age group knows how to drive a stick. If you are just driving to get somewhere, an automatic is fine. If you want to have some fun, and drive something challenging, a stick has always been the way to go.

Not sure how this thread changed from pricing a car to driving stick shift. However..............I'm also a boomer, 71 this December, and anyone who I went to school with who could not drive stick was considered a *****. Most could also drive a non-synchromesh transmission. Some of the younger ones on this forum will not know what that is. I drove my FD home when the clutch fork broke without ANY clutch by matching the revs on the upshift and starting from stop with the key off in first gear. Did the same with my TR-4 thirty years ago. Drove a 1940 dump truck with brakes so bad that if you missed a downshift (non-synchro trans) you would never stop with a load on. Most older drivers have had real life experience with some of the older technology.

i personally don't think the introduction of electric cars or self driving cars will change demand for classic sports cars(that are manual) in the distant future. i actually think it will increase it. just look at what happened to horses, they were replaced for day to day use, and later became very popular for recreational use. i think the same will happen with gasoline powered cars.

It's a 35k max car IMO at this time.

That's just the top few cars listed on this forum. I'd take any of those cars over the low mileage VR touring at 30k much less 50.

Personally more interested in the general commentary on FDs than on that particular example. But, that car only seems to be one summer in front of the market for as long as I've known it.
That '95 base should be sold. But, the seller didn't do enough background and it rendered poorly. The other ones are great for forum junkies like us who know up from down with FDs. But, the person who always wanted and never had their own FD probably doesn't want those. They'd rather pay for a virgin.

I won't sell my CW touring for less than 35 (has 49k miles on it) and it's setup fairly well.
YES we will see an FD sell for 50k but it won't be a 93 touring.

For those that don't know the car well that's a good summary and Doug did a good job in the video.

Things I can glean from video and also what I know about the car:
Rear carpet missing (has aftermarket replacement)
Tweeters in the doors/after market stereo which of course means the quarter panels have likely been damaged UNLESS the speakers where put in by someone who knows these cars well etc....
Short shifter based on the Doug review
Screw covers missing on the cowel so windshield likely replaced
Compression low for a well kept low mileage FD (I think it tested approx 95).
Paint is avg for mileage. I received this info and the compression #s from someone who was interested in buying it.
Car is a 2 owner car. The 2nd owner (dude who listed it anywhere and everywhere at 40k plus) likely bought and stored it but clearly didn't drive it much/title it if it still shows 1 owner.
Bottomline: this is hardly the nicest FD in the US............ although likely in the top 100.
PS: I would take Adam's old ride over this car no questions asked.

He is emphasizing the 50k dollars because he is advertising for the dealership selling it. And values are all about beliefs and expectations. We call it maybe a 30k car, but if a million people see it discussed as a 50k car, maybe 40k becomes less of a stretch.
I noticed the aftermarket radio and exhaust.
I had actually emailed him a couple weeks ago and offered to let him review my 95 with 54k miles. IMO it's a cleaner car that is more original, but it's a Montego blue popular equipment package rather than a silver R2. He didn't respond to my email but now I see he was working on a video already.

If it was legit though it could actually sell for 40k plus. The market is strong!
