I paid $25,5k for my 95 FD with 36kmiles. Orig owner, lived in Fla. Petit Racing did turbo rebuild at 24k miles. Had Petit put in 10k in motor, another 5k other / ie Peter Farel exhaust. I’ve done really nothing to it. But after putting off, gonna give the girl some new shoes, do a nice walk over . It’s had a Battery draw which orig owner had an issue with. Need to get that dialed in. Airbag now this winter off storage starts to blink. The current rims on it now have slow leaks in them and will flatten out. BBS LM-R 18” rims wheels about $6k. So like 32k in it. No need to sell it, I’ve been told that in next 15-20 years to really see the price rise for the well kept ones out there. It’s not an exotic like a Ferrari Porsche but it is unique with that Rotary motor. But it never, ever fails that every single time I take her out. Even in 5 mile treks, some person has to get my attention and yell awesome or love that car or say they ran 3 red lights to catch up and give a thumbs up. Stop and get gas, 10 min convo with complete strangers. No lie or exaturation. A clean looking 7 draws attention

i have a highly modified 93 R1 Rx7. Perfect body no rust and it seems like I can’t give it away. Very frustrating!

Wow, I can't wait to see what it fetches. That's definitely a high-mid grade 45k miler.

That is a really nice find. I'll be disappointed if it sells for less than $32K.

I don't see it going over 30k but again this should be a decent example of where values are. SSM on black is a great combo for a keeper. If it was a 94/95 base or R2 I'd be bidding

If you miss out on this one here's a decent deal right here on the forum: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...stock-1126081/

I have the same thing happen to me regularly. It's a "dream car" for a reason. I parked casually outside my work, waiting on a coworker. Very far end of parking lot away from everyone. In 45 minutes, I had 6 guys (yes 6) come by and either compliment... compliment and start a conversation... or compliment, start a conversation and take pictures! Guy in a civic, guy in a brand new 2018 WRX. All types. People realize quality. People realize beauty. It's a beautiful car! I knew it when I didn't know **** about life, and I know it now that I'm a little older. I
love love love this car! Couldn't ask for anything more. Ok, working at getting a 2nd FD!

That was a fun read.

Add me to the pool of increasing demand; my GF recently bought a new Mazda and I had so much fun driving it. Nothing like my appliance-like Tacoma; it reminded me I used to love Mazdas so I came back here to see if I could finally get one. It appears FD prices have increased $10k since this thread was originally started only 13 months ago; so good job increasing the value Fritz - "marketing" . I even am beginning to see some of the phrases muttered here in for sale ads around the country, as if all owners have become car salesmen.

Looks like I last logged in here in 2005, a high-schooler with a dream. With the way prices look now, and my perpetual middle class-ness, I guess I will keep dreaming.

Yep values are up for sure but the only high priced FD I've seen sell this year is the SSM R2 with 32k miles for 42500. If this is a car you want I'd suggest pulling the trigger or you'll be paying 25k for an FD that needs work or 40k for a clean low mileage example. Demand will continue to climb and supply will continue to dwindle, NOW/today is the time to buy! Meanwhile dealers will continue to test the top of the forever increasing market with higher and higher prices BECAUSE THIS IS A TRULY SPECIAL CAR!

I don't want to egg you on if it's not responsible, but I will note, it's actually quite easy to get a reasonable auto loan on a classic car. PenFed offered me basically the full amount I paid at just 3% a year ago (I have good credit, not perfect, but definitely good credit). Having a payment on what at worst case will just end up being a very enjoyable checking account isn't an awful thing. It's certainly more palatable to me than a payment on a new car.

Anyway, I was graduating high school around the same time. The FD was always the dream car for me as well -- glad I stumbled into it when I did (randomly cruising eBay -- no intention to buy anything at al!!). Nothing this good or beautiful will ever be mass produced again.

Yep - I would likely finance it. I won't ever have doctor/lawyer/real estate money so cash buy is out of the question. I will probably start my WTB ad in the section here sooner or later. I need to buy a house first so I have somewhere to park it; as it is I am renting 2 spots in our parking garage in addition to the one that is deeded to my unit.

BC Already There Over There

A dozen or so special edition RHD (Spirit R, Bathurst, etc.) have sold in "global" markets at the US$30,000 level in the last year. Although some years away, when these limited edition cars finally be come "US legal" there is a strong chance they could match LHD prices in the collector car bracket. (imo).

Maybe not but RHD RX7s are climbing at an astronomical rate here in Canada. Three years ago you could pick up a descent RHD FD for $10K CAD, two years ago it was about $12k CAD, last year, it was $17K CAD, and now descent RHD ones are being listed for $20k-$25k CAD. Trashed RHD ones are being listed for $10k-$15K now. I think we've hit a ceiling on RHD prices though. I see the same FDs listed each month on Kijiji without being sold.

I agree. I can definitely see people paying a premium for an RZ, Bathhurst, etc..... These may end up being THE most valuable of all FDs here and everywhere else.

YEP people are definitely testing the top of the market and I think the US cars have topped out as well. Several nice cars listed at 40k plus but so far I only know of the SSM R2 being sold. The sellers understand that they have the upper hand and clearly don't mind sitting on these cars.

I'm a buyer of a low mileage (under 10k miles) R2, CW base, SSM/MB base for 40k and I'm not emotional and have been in the game for a long time. So imagine a buyer who is emotional and has been dreaming of owning this car for a long time. 50k isn't out of the question but clearly makes zero sense if you can buy a clean roller for 15k or less (as just witnessed 9k.... what a deal that was).

I can see this one selling for 40k: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RX-7-Turbo/...Fa8R5E&vxp=mtr

I can see this one selling for under 27k: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Mazda-...ha3iqh&vxp=mtr

Buying the SSM touring for 27k and under makes much more sense than buying the CW for 40k or more which is why the CW hasn't sold and the SSM will sell and give us a true understanding of the current market.

BC Type RB not to be ignored

One Series 8 Type RB Special Package made it into the top 20 of Japan auction prices this year. Which is interesting in that it would likely cost about $20,000 to upgrade it to a Spirit R spec (285 HP Turbos/ ecu, seats, badges, red stitching, Bilstein Shocks, Wheels).

(Disclosure: I have 1999 Series 8 Type RB SE)

I'll be bidding on that SSM if it stays in the 20s. Would be a relatively easy swap from my MB if I was to dump it on BaT.

Ha, that SSM already cracked 21.

It will stay in the 20s or whoever buys it is paying far too much.

Again I'm a fan of SSM but not a fan of 93 cars and that interior is beat up. You can see the interior panels (even at 45k miles) have the heat soaked pealing, sticky, scratched look and the only fix is taking them off and stripping them etc....

This is a way better deal/car and it's already lower than 30k at the buy it now price. I'm betting the seller would take 27: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Mazda-...Baxp-j&vxp=mtr
