I am only referring to FDs, always have been. Please let me know what indication you noted that says otherwise?
Project cars are not in the mix for our purposes. Running driving cars seems to be the only fair ones to count.

I will take your word for the market prices of cars in UK, I'm completely unqualified to speak on that.
However the thread is about number of 3 rotors not resale or if it's cost effective compared to a newer car.

As I think a lot of folks will agree with, cars are a hobby and decisions are based off of love for the hobby and not through financially efficient planning. I don't think because a car project doesn't make sense financially that people will shy away from doing it. Especially taking rotary fanatics.

Yes we will never know the exact numbers, but I am confident we can get a better idea than the blatant guessing that's happening now. What I don't want is misinformation or further confusion of facts.

Still waiting to find out the true number of Pettit cars. Also we have help from an an-named source on the way who will provide the number of 3 rotor cars that the popular shops have output!

As I recall, I was number 11 and was the last 20B "Banzai" Pettit produced. Man, that takes me way back. Lots of time and money spent on the 3 rotor since then. Gotta say, I like where I am now with the car much better than the Banzai version. And yes, I am on the road and running. Took me long enough to get there though.

Snook 03-20-17 07:09 PM

Wow Cool David, did not know that Pettit was the shop that turned yours into 3 Rotor, was aware that they worked on it.
There will never be another one like it with the customization and road you went down! So so much cooler than buying a Porsche, and being like everyone else who buys their supercar.

^ Thanks Snook. I went the 3 rotor route after taking a "drive" with Cam at Pettit in his 3 rotor. That guy is crazy. Cam personally did the rebuild on the Banzai engines - that is, with the exception of mine. Led to lots of issues that took a long time sorting out.

I don't know about the Porsche comment - could have bought a GT3 and had some change left in my pocket.

You still can!

10K-Mile 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 | Bring a Trailer

Only two hours left and still under $70K!

^ Too funny. No cash left after plowing it into the 20B. Like I said, I could have had that car and a big chunk of cash as well.

Banzai-Racing 03-21-17 01:15 PM

Not to be confused with our Banzai Racing 20B engines that we have built. :)

RotaryEvolution 03-21-17 01:19 PM

the number put out by shops isn't going to be remotely accurate either. all the 20B engines i rebuilt were self installed by the customers.

sooo most of them are sitting on jackstands still like most 20b projects lol

Banzai-Racing 03-21-17 01:45 PM

I know of around 10 that we have built that are running, not all in FD bodies. One is installed in an RX8 that we built, a couple in FCs, a few are in airplanes. There are bunch more that I have no idea what ever happened to them after they were shipped.

^ Yep, very different from those you guys build.

For some light reading, here is a 1998 article on the Pettit Banzai 3 rotor.

It was one heck of a read. Really inspiring and exciting. And look Cam 20 years ago only looked 65 lol

Monsterbox 03-21-17 11:15 PM

I remember following the hayes build back when I first bought an FD. So much gold in that thread. Cool to see how far everyone/everything has come over the past decade

Snook 03-22-17 06:49 AM

I'd take a PFS build. I had a FD he built and everything was right

Monsterbox 03-23-17 10:28 AM

Its to bad PFS isn't tuning anymore. He was a genius.

Only 19 votes, not enough to get a pulse of the forum, chip in if you have a good guess!

CrisH 03-28-17 06:49 PM

Banzi

I have bought two Banzi's from Cam Worth. He had told me there were only about 8 if memory serves me correctly.

Snook 04-03-17 04:52 PM

Good info thanks

Voting has stalled at 19 haha

Snook 04-06-17 11:48 AM

there is a reserve on the voting, will not sell at 19!

And there's no way there are under 100 of these in the world!

Someone prove me wrong
