Headlight bezel screws...

does anyone know if the FC headlight bezel screws are the same, or nearly the same as the FD ones? The Mazda dealer says the ones for the FD are discontinued, but I can pick up FC screws from Atkins Rotary (see link).

Will work. I ordered these screws last year, they shouldn't be. At least in Canada they are not

Good news! Thanks.

Just to confirm, are you talking about the black plastic shroud that fits around the headlight on the FD? If so, I just got one of those screws from my local dealership in December.

Stupidest request ever...

Tried to get some from Ray, and I was sent something that didn't work at all.

Does anyone have a close up detailed photo of the actual Original OEM screws that hold the headlight shroud to the mechanical housing by chance?

Are you talking about these screws? If so, the part number I specified above is the one for these.

I think so , yes?

I don't know that I have ever seen them in person to my knowledge.

I was sent some "small/narrow headed" screws that didn't even interface with the clip, and unfortunatly the originals were lost when a friend was "helping" at one time.

These are the ones you ordered?

Would love to replace mine with the "correct" ones at some point. :)

*Random gripe, never liked the sloppy reveal and alignment on those !

eslai 05-04-17 01:49 PM

Yeah you can see how poorly mine aligns too. It's kind of an art to get the headlight covers and bezels aligned nicely from what I can tell.

That screw that is missing in my photo is the screw that i ordered from the dealership. The one they got me was an exact match for it, and yes, these are the original screws that should be there.

I was wondering about that also.

Damn ! if that's the original screw ,

someone find something that will look better than that.

Fortunately I never have to see mine, as the popups are literally never actuated !

Made a 99 winker HID conversion and the entire setup works so much better than those piss poor stock popups, its criminal to think they sent them out of the factory with such poor lighting IMO.

I don't know if it's just that I'm used to driving cars with shitty halogens or something, but I've so far not found the lighting to be inadequate on the FD. I put in Silverstar Ultras and that was enough for me.

the issue i'm running into is finding a screw that interfaces correctly with the clips and looks good. I'm honestly thinking about changing out the clips to ones that take a machine screw instead of a trim screw. then of course there is the issue of getting everything aligned perfectly so the cover, the bezel, the hood, the bumper and my fenders all have the right gaps.

I'll keep everyone updated as there seems to be some interest in this.

eslai 05-08-17 03:21 PM

Interesting. If you just don't like how the screws look, I wonder if some black plastic plugs would satisfy your needs.

If you want to do some color deviation, you could get some plugs paint-matched by Bumper Plugs or wherever, although having to order four sets wouldn't be very cheap.
