Has anyone installed Brembo brake kit?
 

Wandering if anyone bought the Brembo brake kit made for the rx7 FD. How is the brake bias? Does it go wirh the stock rear brakes or would it be better with the sakebomb rear brake kit? Would like to know what would be a good brake setup with front Brembo brake kit.


Also trying to find the piston diameter on the Brembo calipers.

Honestly, you would be much better off just getting the Sakebomb brake kit. It is track proven and supports one of our forum vendors who is constantly reinvesting in new products for our aging vehicles.

They may not be Brembo calipers, but they are as good or better quality.

I just happened to bought a used Brembo brake kit for a sweet deal. I wouldn't buy the kit brand new. Too much money

Yep, currently have the GT kit and it's worked well for me. I'd rank what I've used on the FD as follows

GT kit has great feel/nice and smooth etc...
Big reds/porsche 993 turbo brakes (also brembo) pretty much the same kit
Stop tech also best bang for the buck
AP racing (m2 kit) likely similar to sakebomb kit. Biggest diff is sakebombs kit has thicker pads and rotors so it should last longer but also heavier.
Wilwood superlite (6 piston cheap nascar calipers) very light weight but fluid will get hot on a short course.

Are you running stock rear brakes? Or some other rear brake setup?

Brembo GT: 36/40
Big Reds: 36/44
StopTech (standard): 36/30, 36/34 for '99 rears

*note, the size of the rotors used figures into the balance relative to the rear.

I'm actually using the Racing Brake large rotor/bracket rear (which is larger than '99), with the standard/OE sized StopTech fronts.

I currently have 99 rear but this kit works fine with OEM rears. Remember the piston size is the same on 99s so there is no major difference and I can't tell which kit I have other than the OEM brakes wear a little faster due to the approx 11 inch 294mm vs approx 12 inch 314mm rotor size.

The bias is probably a little better on the stoptech kit but IMO the brembo kit feels better and they are safer/but probably slower (as in fronts lock 1st).

Again the brembo GT kit designed for the FD is a great BBK and you should be happy!

Thanks for the replys and appreciate the information. I'm gonna see if I can upgrade my rear brakes to 99 brakes. I'm guessing the sakebomb rear brake kit would not be a good combo with the front Brembo brakes since that kit was made for the ap racing brake kit

4 Piston calipers
Pistons are 30/36
355x32 14" rotors (18" wheels probably minimum)

love that GTR kit, but as with all race calipers, you need to remove it in order to swap pads. Tough for a street/track car.

And lack of dust seals/boots would not be wise for a 100% street car.
