Exterior trim/clip question
1 Attachment(s)
For the beltline moulding, the clips are listed separately from the moulding. Basically all of my clips are shot, and while I see how the center clips would snap back onto the moulding, I don't see how the end clips would. This may be because mine snapped clean off, or because I don't have a new clip in front of me to compare. Are these replaceable, or are they actually built into the beltline somehow? Just trying to figure out what I need to order.
On the passenger door handle, the trim piece that kind of tucks behind the handle/plate (photo attached) keeps popping out. Is this something that I could take the handle off and use some adhesive to keep it down, or is there some other trick to it? |
After taking the mouldings off, I see where the end clips snap in. When I was looking originally, I was only looking by pulling it back slightly with it still mostly attached. The piece that actually locks into place snapped clean off, I suppose, which is why it looked confusing.
I'm guessing I'll need to get the new ones before I figure out how to get the old broken clip out, though. I can't tell how it locks in, and don't want to bend the moulding trying to pry the clip out. Shouldn't be a big deal. |
when you find it and can hold leverage with a small thin plier ..heat it up with a blow dryer before pulling

I was able to remove and replace the 5 main clips with no hassle on both mouldings, but the end clip (the clip in the moulding that snaps in below the handle, part number 50-646 in this photo) is proving to be a little more difficult. Based on where the snap prong is, it seems like it would slide out toward the rear of the moulding, but I don't want to snap anything. Any thoughts? http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/im...ze/BF23211.jpg |
Yep, 50-646 does slide out toward the rear of the car/trim. I had to dig/cut out a bunch of rubber coating/fill/whatever in order to get it out, but I was able to get the new one in. I put a little RTV back in the area just to keep things similar.
