The Chris Carlisi Memorial Motor is BACK for 2017!

Good Morning guys,

On the occasion of the recent birth of my son Chris, and in tribute to Chris Carlisi and his lifelong passion of the rotary engine and FD3s RX-7.......
I have decided to BRING BACK the annual Chris Carlisi Memorial Motor effective immediately  :icon_tup:

What does this mean to you, Mr. Rotorhead reading this? It means the winner will ship me a 13B short block to be completely and professionally torn down, cleaned, street ported, clearanced and built to the highest specifications. You'll only pay my actual cost for parts and supplies, and any (vastly reduced) labor charges will be donated towards a good cause (after speaking with Chris' mother I have an awesome idea in mind!!) :patriot:

For those who are unaware, we used to hold an annual memorial meet/track day/car show and donate all proceeds to charity in Chris' honor. Ihor, Buddy Lee and I would perform one performance rotary engine build each year for only parts cost, and donate the half labor cost directly to charity in Chris' name. Thanks go out to Ihor over at IR Performance for always being a great and supportive friend to Chris :icon_tup:

Rotary celebrity Ray Crowe purchased Chris' 20B GT42R FD and has been representing Chris' vision in an exemplary fashion every since. We all know this, but Ray is The Man :D

I'm really excited to be bringing back the Memorial Motor portion of this, and will post more details up soon. In the meantime, here is his awesome build thread if you'd like to read through the making of a monster way back in 2006 :egrin:

Cool to see you bringing it back. You ever consider an annual raffle where you sell tickets to cover the cost of the build and also raise money for charity? I'm sure many people would be willing to buy $50 tickets for the chance at a well built motor.

I'm planning to host this event at IR Performance and make it into a meet/bbq/dyno day where the proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. I've been in contact with Chris's father Ron, and Ray Crowe who now owns the car. I'm thinking some time in August or September. Stay tuned for details.

This is really good to hear Rich! I'm glad you're stepping up to keep this going. Chris was a good friend of mine and I'm really happy you're helping keep his memory alive. If we can help with any donations or parts please let me know... happy to do so on Chris' behalf :)

Good stuff, Rich. Let me know what I can do to help. I'd love to get my hands on a built motor :)

Great input all around, thanks guys.

I've been speaking with Chris' mother Judie about this for some time now......

My plan is to direct future monies towards 'Carlisi Spirit Track Events,' so that fellow Rotorheads can enjoy a track day or weekend on a road course with proceeds from the Carlisi Memorial Motor. Get on track and enjoy that rotary courtesy of Chris Carlisi, so to speak

Judie absolutely loved the idea and felt it was in the true spirit of Chris' passion and motivation. I'm really excited to forge ahead in my old friend's memory, stay tuned for further updates :icon_tup:
