CEL stays on during diagnostic

So I put a paper clip between TEN and GND on diagnostics and put the key to the on position and my wipers turn on (they keep wiping) and my CEL stays solid (it doesn’t blink). Also when I regularly run the car without trying to diagnose I get the CEL code appear a few seconds after it starts running.

few months ago it used to be able to read cel codes no issue. Back then I found out I had an emissions code that came on whenever I boosted but this one at startup is new now so I want to be able to diagnose it.

I also have an uninstalled apexi pfc (kinda scared because I don’t know if base map can handle my mods)

Triple check you are on the right pins, it's real easy to look at that box upside-down and get the wrong pins.

Wipers are most likely you have the wiper stalk down, that's the only thing that will run the wipers.

If you have a modded car and a stock ECU that's WAY more of a time bomb than putting the PFC in. Also the PFC will help you with the sensor check screen on the commander.

Is the car generally running OK/idling well/driving/making power?

Hey dale,

so yes my car idles perfectly fine. I understand you said the stock ecu is a ticking time bomb more than the apexi but I have my boost limited to 11psi on the stock ecu and didn’t want to touch something that works well between range. I’m worried the apexi would be more sensitive (blow up at 11psi boost). But I’m leaning towards just putting it in now and following that one guide to tune it with the commander to make it a little safer.

as for the wiper stock, it’s not down. Plus the wipers only move like this on their own when I make the connection between TEN and GND.

as for making sure I got the right connection I’m pretty sure I do but later today I’ll send a picture of where I make the connection just to make sure I’m not crazy.

thank you for taking your time to reply

Remember the PFC is a very straight forward install and you can easily go back to the stock ECU if necessary.

That is just bizarre on the wipers - I'd have to dig through the wiring diagram to see why, that shouldn't do anything.

Dale
