Auto Parts Store Find: Hot Wheels 787B

I found this little gem hanging on an endcap while at Advance Auto Parts yesterday! I'm sure it could be found elsewhere but it was convenient (and a little pricey @ $6.99). Has anyone else found something similar? It was added to my Matchbox FD & Hot Wheels FB collection.

I've been looking everywhere for that 787b. I refuse to buy online because that's cheating and takes the fun out of collecting these.

mkiv98,

I wish you the best of luck on your search! This one "found" me in an auto parts store. Do you have the others shown on the backside?

I'd like to find that 787B. I have most of the Hot Wheels FB's from the last few years and a couple FD's. The FC gets no love though. I think I've yet to see a FC since I've been watching for the past few years.

Dak,

I hope you find that 787B soon. Do you have any pics to share of your rotary Hot Wheels collection?

I have a friend that collects Hot Wheels and he'll buy some extras for me when he finds something that I'll like. I got the 787 as well and threw that into a case that one of my other Hot Wheels was in.

Here's some others he's given me over the years as well.

RapidCancel,

That is really cool! Thanks for sharing. I like the 787 in its own case - nice touch!

I went on the hunt this evening to find another 787B or its siblings listed on the back panel.

Instead, I found another Hot Wheels car to add to the collection. This time it is a lime green FB. It belongs to a set of 9 cars packaged as "Hot Wheels 9". I found it at Wal-Mart and it runs about $9.60. If others are interested in finding it then you may have to look for these particular cars. I found similar "Hot Wheels 9" packages but they had different cars.

There are a few other cool cars such as a pair of Datsun 240s (one in yellow is supposed to be a Fairlady Z), Nissan 370Z, Alfa Romeo 4C, Honda CR-X , and an unidentifiable Plymouth hot rod. I also appreciate the Hot Wheels stencil that appears on a few of these cars. It is a nice touch and fairly detailed when magnified.

Photos of the FB and packaging are below if you are interested in finding it.

New update!

I found a couple more Hot Wheels RX-7s while at Target and Wal-Mart today. First, this Hot Wheels 9 package featured a '16 Corvette ZR1 (has lexan hood cutout), FD RX-7, FB RX-7, and a Porsche 917 race car. The price at Target was similar to Wal-Mart's at approx $9.60.

Here are the photos:

Close up of FD in the package. The nose of the FB is visible in the far top- left.

While at Wal-Mart today, I sifted through their large display of Hot Wheels cars and found 2 single FD RX-7s. They were under a buck ($0.97) for each car. Here are the photos of the single package.

Still no luck on the 787b but I did have another interesting find. Saw this mystery box at a local japanese grocery store, had no idea what was in it, and it was $11. It also had some nutrition facts info on the side, weird. I figured what the hell, bought it anyway.

Open it up and it's this actually quite detailed model. You can open the hood and see the stock engine, along with a full RHD interior. Also came with a little stand and side mirrors you can attach! And the nutrition facts was for a single tiny piece of gum that was in the box for some reason.

You’re going to have a hard time finding the 787b, they came out a few months ago. The major stores will have sold out of them by now. You can find the green FB in a three pack also at Walmart. The black FD just came out and is easy to find. There will be another FD coming out soon but it will be bare with no paint but have the same decals as the black one. They call them zamacs and can only be found at Walmart. Also a blue Repu just came out.
I’m almost caught up with all the rotary vehicles, just need two more FB’s and need a few Furais.

antman,

that's good to know on both accounts. I'll keep my eyes open for that zamacs FD. Would that be a Hot Wheels car or made by another company?

It still is a regular hot wheels car, just a little different from the rest. The Zamac cars are a series of unpainted cars found only at Walmart. They release 18 models each year.
Now that I looked it up, it will be a few months before that one comes out.

antman,

I wouldn't mind getting a Furai. Besides the interwebs, where could I find one? Do you have any pics to share of the Furai?

You can find the maroon one in the 9 pack like the green FB. The rest of them came out years ago so eBay or go to toy shows at convention centers.

antman,

holy cow! That's a nice collection you have. Did you load up one of those 9 packs with rotary cars? Is that a baby blue FC in that 9 pack? I'll have to hunt down the Furai's then.

Yes I put all the loose cars in the 9 pack. I found the FC at a flea market, there's no logo or name of who made it though. I did change the wheels on it, next I want to try repainting it a different color. I dont like the baby blue.

Tom93R1,

Thanks for posting your find. I'll have to check out my local Target now.

FuhrerTuner,

I hear ya. Hot Wheels gives plenty of love for the FB and FD. I think we should write to them!
