In search of a Bose Soundwave

Hey guys!
I recently bought my first FD and I love it. It is a touring model, and it originally came with the Bose soundwave system in the back. The previous owner changed out the head unit and the speakers to add pretty decent aftermarket ones in the trunk. While this is cool, the aftermarket speakers are not my style. I am looking for a place to get the OEM Bose soundwave for my car. I can't seem to find one for sale anywhere, and I have been assuming it is a part that many people throw away as it doesn't sound the best. I could only find one for sale on eBay, but it is from Japan with no returns allowed and also quite expensive. I was hoping someone on these forums could tell me a place that sells them or maybe sell me one. Also, if anyone had a broken one they wanted to get rid of I will gladly take that off your hands. Thanks for any help!

Cloveh,

I see that you are new so I'll be gently with you. First, welcome to the forum. Second, use the search function. Third, I'm sure you meant to say "throw away". Fourth, take a look at the for sale section and/or post a WTB (Wanted To Buy) request for the Bose set.

Cheers,
George

I have seen them for sale occasionally over the years. Also, the Bose system has amps at all points in the system. There is an amp in the Acoustic Wave subwoofer itself, amps with each Bose speaker in the doors, and a center channel amp under the center console behind the ashtray. All of these amps tend to go out over time due to leaky capacitors and failed diodes. I have had several of my amps repaired for over the years for around $80 each, since I bought my car new in 1994. Also, the CD player often fails and also has to be repaired. It is either Panasonic or Clarion unit, I forget which one, with the Bose name on it. The laser goes out. Good luck finding everything.

Cloveh, just to add, you can try contacting Bose Automotive if you are ok paying for new components. They do still have some new speaker/amps/enclosures in stock.
