2002 rear wing removal

Hey All,
I have looked but have not found anything in relation to the series 8 wing removal.
I have found that since the respray I am leaking into the hatch trims.
After a rain and im out or the car is parked when I lift the hatch I get water coming out of the inside trims.
With my friend Mr electrical tape I have managed to eliminate the window leaking, although I would like to replace the window rubber to not sure how to go about that as I think it may be set in when the window is placed in and glue is still wet.
I know it is coming in through the wing and running into the trims.
I sealed up the two outer bolts but I suspect there may be a 3rd that is accessed from inside under the hatch trims ?
Thought I would ask before I go ripping stuff apart.
The wing shouldnt be held on with any sealant to my knowledge but some type of gasket ?
Though i would hit the brains trust on this.
Will also help as I really want to get one of the carbon blade for the thing in the future so Ill be prepared.

Thanks in advance

I don't have a direct answer for you but I suspect the 99 wing attaches very similar to the 93-95 spoilers. Meaning how to access the mounting points, type of gaskets it has, and mounting hardware.

Check the FSM :

I vaguely remember there being a gasket between the mounts and the hatch when I installed my 99 wing a long time ago.

Like a lot of the trim stuff, the gaskets are NLA, so have to get creative with adhesive foam sheet or silicone if they're damaged or the panel beaters have neglected to install them at all - as usual. According to the parts fiche, as expected, 6mm fasteners holding it in place - 10mm hex..

There are four gaskets that seat between the hardware. From the Japan FSM, the part number I found is F138-51-965. (Reference number: 51-966B)

Thanks for the replies people.
I was pretty confident the OEM gaskets were no longer available as I think I got what I could back when it was getting resprayed.
I see the two bolts on the diamgram but also a nut so I think it is trim off time.
Will see what happens once I get the wing off.

Cheers Guys

I recently advised to use piano wire or similar to saw under the wing to cut through the old gaskets, or sealant, or whatever.

( I have not dared tried it however. )

What I have seen of other removed wings is a horror show underneath.

This is the only appearance you will see of part 50-732C.

Yeah, I just checked my sources here in Japan. Last time is was listed as available was 2 years ago.

Should have thought ahead when I bought the car a couple of years ago :(.
Thanks for checking

Maybe try to find a solution before removing.

Odd that gaskets wouldn't be available for a 99 when I was able to get them for my 94 R1 spoiler last year. Has anyone actually confirmed they are NLA?

Blackduck30 05-11-24 03:44 AM

Yeah, I had mine resprayed about 6mths ago and tried to order a lot of new stuff to go back on. The wing gaskets were some things that were out of production from Mazda in Japan

Damn NLA... I guess home made silicone gaskets is going to be in all futures

Double sided mounting tape, like they used for all the covid wash your hands signs.

(Unless, of course, there is still a global shortage of double sided covid wash you hands mounting tape.)

I ordered this from McMaster-Carr.com. I have not installed it yet, but I measured the gasket thickness before cleaning it off. It was approximately 1/8 inch, and I'm assuming the height was also 1/8 inch. Anyway, this is a good solution compared to gooping RTV everywhere.
