17x8.5 +55 BBS RGR Wheels (Front)
 

Hello everyone,

I am planning to purchase some BBS RGR Black Diamond wheels. I was planning to go with 17x8.5+37 and 17x9.5+38 since people have done that in the past and it seemingly seems to fit.

Unfortunately, I am unable to find any 17x8.5+37 but I can find 17x8.5+55. Does anyone have any experience with these in the front? My guess is they should fit but I want to be sure before I purchase them because they are quite expensive lol.

Wow those are some high offsets. I hope you don't mind sunken in wheels.

BTW stock FD wheel size is 16x8 +50. So logic suggests that 17x8.5 +55 will fit up front. Although I've never met anyone with those offsets, because most people don't like that

To my knowledge, I bought the last set of 17x9+42 and 17x9.5+42 of direct fit 5-114.3 lug pattern BBS RGR Diamond Black for the front and rear from the BBS warehouse in Atlanta 4-5 years ago, which at that time they stopped producing several years earlier. (They were considered defective due to some very minor paint variation in the shade of black, which I cannot even see, and I paid half price for them. An awesome deal I was very excited about.). I believe they don't even make 17" RGR wheels in the 5-114.3 pattern anymore. My wheels are still in the boxes waiting to be installed after I have my car repainted. Used ones are very hard to come by but I would still try finding used ones. Sakebomb garage sells similar looking wheels brand new. Look at their website.

It seems like sakebomb only sell one size which are currently out of stock (17x9.5+45). Unless I'm mistaken this should be able to fit the rear no problem but I'm less sure about the fronts. The spreadsheet says the minimum to go for the front with a 17x9.5 is a +50, so I'm afraid I might get some fitment issues. I live in socal where dips, entering and exiting driveways/parking lots can be very steep. So I'm pretty sure I'll have rubbing issues up front.

Yeah, the dips and driveways in LA are pretty extreme sometimes. I sometimes rub my conservative fitment 17x9 +45 on the fronts when running 255s so you'll need to roll the fenders and be careful. A little less width like an 8.5" with the proper offset might be better for you up front. But that means you need to wait for the right wheels to pop up...

I disagree that you need to be such a high offset. Here is my FD on an old set of wheels. they were Work Meister Monoblocks 17x9.5 +35 on my stock body, no rolled fender and lowered on coilovers.

You're OK up front with 9.5 and +45 :nod:
You'll even be able to run some normal sized unstretched tires like 245's. Like we mentioned in the last thread, 17x10 +45 BARELY rubs in front at full lock while the suspension is compressed on 255/40 tires.
