WTF was Mazda Smoking when they put in the fuel filter?!?!

Covered in dirt and Dust, drenched in GAS i got out from underneath my car, of course after being there for about 2 hours, tryin to pry off hoses from the old filter, than the fun part, doning the whole process backwards.. I knew it was gonna be hard, but NO WAY did i ever imagine it was as hard as it was.... i think im gonna move the thing next time.

if it was your first time, it can be hard. but i have it down to being able to do it in about 15-20 min now. hang in there. if you want to relocate, check out this site. http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobi...ilter_move.htm

bacon on here did it, and for some reason said he wished he never did. dont know why, but i have no problem w/ where it is myself.
ps...i think it was some good grade japanese crack not available here in the states.

Remember, it was the Japanese that made those little complex
jewery boxes that were like Rubix cubes to open. Most be some
descendant working at Mazda.

HAHAHHAHAH, how did the gas taste, it should have been a hell of a lot easier to get the san thing back on, th problem is getting the hoses off that have ben more tha likely clamped on there for many years......

Most fuel filters are located near the gas tank, Mazda wanted to save costs by using the same fuel filter as the Miata, and I guess there's just a limited amount of room back. If you read how the
C5 Corvette was designed, you see that they also had a lot of packaging problems at the rear of the car.

relocate to the engine bay and install a K&N washable billet filter (5/16")...only way to fly

I will never go through that hell ever again...worst fucking job in the world...I get pissed just sitting thinking about the agony...I can now clean the filter and reinstall it in about 5 minutes, tops, with no gas spilling on me

just do it!!!

The same stoned MF was probably the one that designed the damn pull type clutch- If you haven't been there yet, you are in for even more expletives. I'd like to personally "congratulate" that squinty eyed asshole!

Luckefini 08-05-01 12:02 AM

Well on wensday I did my fuel filter and it was a bitch alright but wait till there is oil leaking from the o-rings on the filter adaptor, now that is a pain in the ass. And doing you own clutch .... I wont go there but did it anyway

Ninjak 08-05-01 01:19 AM

CRAP!!! That dang smell WONT come out of clothing... and DONT wash other clothes with it... it will infest all the other clothing in the wash too!!!! WARNING!!! Dont be STUPID LIKE ME and wash your fuel spill shirt with other clothing.....
Im a dumb a$$.. im on the 3 consecutive wash with lods of detergent and it still smells like gas... crap...

I think they were smoking a combination of pencil shavings and belly button lint.

BlackFC_NYC 08-05-01 05:30 AM

i did the same thing the other day when i replaced the FF.

i got out from under the car and i couldnt believe i was so filthy.

got it done in 30 minutes though. the old fuel lines are a bitch to get off the existing filter.

Easier?

I have engine and tranny out and the driveshaft disconnected from the diff. Does this make it any easier? I'm also about to install a Walbro 255 fuel pump. Should I replace all my fuel lines with better hose?
