Want a 3rd gen RX-7, HELP!?

I have been thinking about buying an RX-7 for a long time now, and I could really use some advice. Id love to get into the '93 range for under 15k, Im assuming this is possible, and/or probable from blue booking the car. Problem is they're rare, and Id imagine many are driven a little too hard by previous owners. I would appreciate any advice on the subject. What years have which problems associated with them? Should I expect to do my own maintenance (as in: is the car hard to work on?) What exactly should I look for during purchase (pretty self explanatory, but maybe there is a special case) etc. etc. Pretty much any advice worth giving is worth recieving. Oh, and if anyone in Washington (or nearby) is looking to take $5,000 off their asking price and take a well cared for miata under their wing, by all means let me know! I am heavily considering selling the best car I've ever owned to own the car I originally wanted.
I appreciate any help I can get.

hmm... are you looking for a stock rx7, and to keep it that way, to mod it, buy it modded ,etc...

you can save a shitload of money if you buy a modded rx7, *cough, my car for sale, cough* but you kinda lose some of the fun...

so, what are your goals iwth the car? keep it stock, or mod it etc.. from there, advice can be given...

Oh, and off to 3rd gen specific :)

It is more difficult to work on than most cars becuase of its complexity. I'd start with a stock no matter what your intention is. I've got over 99700 miles on my 93 touring. I've had others tell me they have 120K, 130K and even 150K.

Look for any signs of over heating. My site (link below) has some general info but here is a good how to buy link: http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/buyaused.htm

I purchased my car a little over a year ago and I got a 5 year 60,000 mile warrenty for it. The small dealer I got it from specializes in fd's. I take great care of my car, but if something goes, that is ok by me since the warrenty will cover it. The car had 28,000 miles on it when I got it, so the warrenty will go to 88,000 or the 5 years. They have already covered the 5th gear synchro going out and some other minor repairs. The car cost me $19,000 and I put some upgrades on it that cost a couple grand, but I enjoy the car.
