rx8 conversion??

hey, do you guys think, when the rx8 comes out,
there might be engine conversion for the FD?

and keeping the twinturbos?

that rx8 rotary engine pushes like 270 or so hp doesnt it?
and i'm guessing because it's a new rotary engine, for todays
consumer, it's probaby pretty darned reliable dont you think?

i'm sure mazda's learned something about makin em by now!

Re:

There have been a few posts about this, so you might want to do a search for all the RX8 posts too for more info. But as a quick rundown, basically the compression of the Renesis engine is supposed to be 11:1, so turbocharging it would not be a good idea since you would have to run a race gas to keep it from detonating. At least that's what I gather. Now there's another rumor that the compression is lower than that, like 8.5:1, so we'll see what happens.

Now, in Gran Turismo 3, they don't let you turbo charge it, so that must be the answer. :) Kidding of course. If the compression WAS 11:1 and it's just a case of the apexes being lighter than previous ones, then would it be possible to replace those apexes with heavier ones to bring down the compression so that you could turbo charge it? That's what I would like to know.

Hell I'd swap in a NA Renesis if it made my FD as reliable as the 302 I've got in my Stang...

Would miss the whooooooooooooooooosh sound though ;)
