Optimum EGT range

Could someone tell me the optimum exhaust gas temperature range? Thanks!

Not 100% here but I think I remember reading something like a piston driven engine with correct fuel to air ratio around 1600* and a rotory wirh correct fuel to air ratio around 1800*.
