Intake setup? Your thoughts...
 

I have a Ms intake From Japan that consists of two cone filters that sit on the end of two cast metal deals that have connections for all the hoses. Your basic intake. It also has a plate that sits under it and blocks some of the heat from the rad. and holds the unit in place. I still have a stock intercooler and I left the stock air duct to the old air box in place. My hope was that it would divert some air at the cones. I wonder however should I remove this and cover the hole in the stock air scoop so all the air goes to the intercooler?

i have an M2 cold air box and since its getting air from other sources (below the mounting point and a little from the nose) i took off the stock air ducting going from the IC to the stock airbox because it wouldnt mate up and it was just cluttering up the engine bay.
for right now i just duct taped over the hole in the IC, but im in the process of making a plastic plate to rivet onto the duct and then also cut off air to the battery and stoof....

my point is...my airbox is getting cooler air from other places so i dont need the duct and that enables me to direct more air to the IC....which is a very good thing.

I kinda have the same set up as you but I have the HKS twin little cones...... I was told having your intake exposed to your engine heat, or any heat will decrease your Hps........This is Rx7Fashions cold air intake box, I might have to get one of these soon :D

think hot air balloon.....hot air lighter than cold air thats why it floats.....therefore cold air more dense than hot air......therefore more oxygen in cold air than hot air.....therefore more stoof to combust in there once engine sees more oxygen and mates it with more fuel

this is why on colder nights youre much faster....and your IC is much more efficient

i forget the ratio of temperature to HP someone told me once...but its a lot, especially in a turbo car

if you have an open intake, do it JDM style and route a piping from underneath the car to the intake, just take it off during the rainy season

What I am thinking I should do is to take off the stock deal and cover the hole in the intercooler duct so all air goes to it. Then use some piping and run it to the front of the car then to the intake so at least SOME cooler air will get up there.
