hood latch broken....hood wont open HELP!

last night i pulled on the hood latch to open my hood and there was no pressure on the cable. i figure its broken somewhere between the cabin and the actual latch under the hood, but the problem is theres no way to get to the latch to open my hood that i can see. i need to get it opened ASAP to do some work before i can go drive it anymore.
if this has happened before to you or if you have any ideas PLEASE let me know

thanks

The only way I think that you can open your hood is that to jack up your car and see if you can see the cable running out thru your firewall and try to pull it from there. If you cant find it then take of you driver side wheel then take of the plastic fender well's and see if its there then pull it from there. Hopefully the cable did not break from underneath of the hood. if it is then you might need to either take it to a dealer or try to get under and see if you can reach it. hopefully this helps ya but i will talk to my friends dad he is a mechanic for Mazda and his the one that works on my FD and see if he knows how to do it.

From what I have heard it normally breaks at the latch and the only way to get at it is to bend the hood up with a crow bar. No two ways about it. Some people add a second pull cord to the latch as a back up. I plan on doing this sometime soon. Sorry to bring you bad news:(

Yeah, same shit happened to me, I had to go to a Mazda dealer, where they replaced the cable. My hood was all out of whack after they did it too, and squeaked like crazy. But I don't think I've ever gone to a Mazda dealer and not come out with a new problem. I forget the price, I think around $200 all said and done. But better than me jacking it open with a crow bar. Good luck

THAT SUCKS!

This can only mean one thing..........Time to sell your car. Or not.

Happened to me too.

Solution for me. Buy latch and cable from Mazda ($35) and go to a trusted mechanic labor $150

Yes it was expensive b/c car had to be jacked up, take the condesor and rad out and connect the cable. Taht was my solution. I had to get under my hood too
