Found my coolent leek, now what
A couple weeks ago my car started to leak coolent, a couple ounces a day, looked everything over noticed coolent on the top of the radiator, so I picked up a used one. Installed it and thought that would be the end of it. IT WAS'NT. While looking it over again I saw coolent leaking from between the thermostat cover and the engine. I titened the three bolts down a little more and that did nothing.
I'm pulling it all apart and replacing the thermostat and gasket. Should I do anything else??? |
I would pressure-test it to see if there is any leakage anywhere else so you don't do piece meal repairs. You can get a mechanic to do it quickly or pick up a pressure pump at auto supply store for 5-10 bones.
If it's easier for you to just fix it by trial and error, that's fine. Just offering my 2 cents. |
Well I fixed mt coolent leak. I had two the radiator and the thermostat gasket. Both were easy fixes. Lets see what goes wrong next week.
