CD player dead

On the way to work the other day, my cd player quit in the middle of a cd. It just starting blinking dashes across the lcd, and ejected. Now whenever I put a cd in, it blinks the dashes and ejects. I don't have a manual for my car, so I don't know if there is a simple fix for this.

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, it's a '94 touring.

Thanks

Well, there isn't any quick fix that I know of. If you find one, let me know.

The tracking on your CD player is the problem. Mine has had that problem for quite a while. It seems to be worse when it's cold.

It will eventually take the cd, you just have to be persistant, and put it in over and over again.

That's what happens. The factory CD players are crap. I've heard of people going through two or three of these within the time their factory warranty is in effect. I would go get an aftermarket head unit if I were you. That's what I'm going to do after my engine gets rebuilt! :)

I think the hard ridding of the RX7 may cause deterioration of cd players. It does vibrate a lot more in a RX7 than just about every car out there.

You may want to try a CD player cleaner disk that uses wet solution to clean the laser lense. You can get this at any cd store like tower records. This may help. Emphasis on may....
