Boost Pattern

I finally hooked my boost gauge up and the readings seam a little weird. When the car is under wide open throttle between 2400 and 4500 rpm boost shoots up to 14psi and then it feels like there is a small hesitation and the drops to 5psi but still pulls fairly hard. Is this the way it is supposed to work or is there some thing wrong. Thanks

I dont have an answer 4 ya, but im in the same boat as you are. I need to know where the boost should be compaired to the rpm.

Sounds like you are hitting boost cut. Stock ECU will limit you to 12 psi.

The stock set up should put you between 8 to 10 on primary and then you will see a your booost gauge needle "flicker" when the secondary opens on high load(above 4500). Now the needle will max to 11psi when booth turbos are in full sequence or wide open together. It all can vary depending on your engine strength, etc. If you have some mods.(particularly downpipe) some cars do experience boost spike. The stock ecu is set to cut at 12 psi(previously mentioned). If you are dropping to 5psi every run, go get it checked. You might have something hindering proper boost(loose oil line to that turbo, etc.) Hope this gives you a better idea.GOOD LUCK!!G.......

your boost pattern should be, 10-8-10, i almost guarantee that it is the two solenoids that are under the upper intake manifold, try switching them and se what you get, all you have to do is remove the presure chamber(little black box in front of the UIM) and they sit right behind there. Be cvarefull when doing this and back off the pedal if the boost looks like its not going to stop... Let me know what this does....

Did you end up fixing your boost problem that way? When I checked those solenoids they were working fine... and it *looked* as if they were connected right. I gave up and went to a rotary specialist so there is no way for me to check right now. Hopefully I will get my car back tonight and give you guys a heads up on what he found.

No it didn't fix my boost problem, but that is what happened when they were reversed on my car to see if that was the problem..

Check the hoses going to the wastegate and precontrol actuators. When I purchased my car is was boosting like crazy and hitting fuel cut. I went under the car to check these 2 hoses and BOTH were popped off.

Hey 7 sins, is your car at PFS too??? Mine is there right now and am hoping I get it back by Friday. Im hoping they fix it fairly cheap so I can get the Keypad. Let me know how things work out

By the way, my name is Chris too

Well my car is completely stock so there is no reason that the boost should go all the way to 14psi, and I don' t think it is fuel cutting. I have the factory shop manual and it has nothing about this in it at all. Some guys say it can be the clip on the acctuator that has fallen off, but I have not had a chance to check it yet. I will check my solenoids in the next few days.

that is what happens when you run the TPC house completely opne, eg no seloid on the end, etc, just venting to world. DHowever, your selenoid may be stuck open. I was doing som etest and got some nice 143lbs in 1st gear heheh gotta love it.

Adam,

If your car is completely stock then something is popped off. Like I said ,my car was bone stock and hitting 14-15 psi and then cut. Both WG and PC actuators had hoses popped off. Take a look.
