Autometer gauges install

Lots of pics in this page, so I'm just gonna link it instead of uploading everything.

The gauge lights are powered via the ashtray wires, so the dimmer switch operates on them as well.

Looks good Sonny. Would look better below the stereo :D

Haha...maybe so, Adam, but there is no way I'm getting in there and moving the stuff!

You'll be happy to know that in my opinion, that gauge install, was a bigger pain in the ass than the silicon hose job. I would gladly do another hose job before another gauge install.

Then the hose job must be easy :)

Uh, Sonny, you know there are more hoses UNDER the UIM, right? :p:

Gideon: I think I got almost every one with the exception of the lines that go to the TCA. I checked them and they looked fairly new...almost as if they had been replaced recently. Checking of my turbos revealed very little shaft play, so I'm hoping this means that the turbos were replaced not too long ago.

If I ever do gauge work again, I will definitely take the driver's seat out next time!

Nice job Sonny.
Yesterday I installed an elec Greddy Boost Gauge, with a sending unit under the hood.
I used the driver fender as well, but went thru the largest used grommet inside the fender. The wiring came out from ABOVE the fuse box above the dead pedal. I also used wire protectors for all wire and hose under the hood and thru the grommet. A bit more work, but it looks a lot nicer and will hopefully protect the hose/wires better. I don't like hack jobs.

where is the best place to go to get into the engine bay for a boost gauge, and oil pressure gauge...is there anywhere that i wont have to drill a hole? maybe somehwere where there is already a grommet??...also..you hooked your guage lights up to the lighter....can i do that for all three of my guages going to my pillar?

I was just razzing you a bit... :D Otherwise, I shouldn't be talking. I still have most of the original vac. lines. It's like a ticking time-bomb.

I did a gauge job with one of FlyRX7's center speaker pods last spring. The pod part was easy. The wiring job through the firewall and in the footwell wasn't. I think I actually lost weight from all the yoga I was doing trying to fit in there. However, I did manage to route the wires through that grommet without jacking up the car or removing the fender liner completely. It took a week for the resulting cuts on my arms to heal. :D

BTW, looks good! :bigthumb:
