Anyone tried the Robinette homemaid cold air intake?

I have an open air (hot air) intake right now and the foam filter has a small hole in it from the last time I washed it. I was thinking about modifying the stock air box (I have a spare) as shown on Rob Robinette's site, but I want to find out if anyone else has had any experience with this. I'm sure it is brings in cooler air than what I have now, but how is it compared to the expensive cold air intakes? I'm not ready to pay $400-$500 for one yet, especially if there is no noticeable difference.

rob also says just making a heat sheield works, I don;t rememebr which procedure is to modify the stock airbox, but just get a RB inlet for liek 90$, they work great

I second that--get the RB duct with stock size K&N filter. It made a noticeable increase in power, esp. at highway speeds. I recently put on a Pettit intake, and don't think it's making a huge difference.

Hell, I still have the RB duct and K&N in good condition. Make me an offer, it's sitting in my garage.
