Z3 style convertible spoilers anyone?

Hey guys, I am considering having a fiberglass fabricator buddy of mine make a one-off BMW Z3 style spoiler for my car, and was interested if there would be any demand or interest for them if he made multiples. It would be stylish, not ostentatious, no more than 2.5" tall, in 3 peices as to accomodate opening the trunk. I'm thinking the price range would be around $200. If there is an interest, I will take addresses so that when mine is complete, I can send out pics.

can you find pics of the Z3 to show us? I'm too lazy to find some.

If you made it wide enough for RX7 specs it would look good, but as it is on the Z3- it's too narrow

ok no, don't want it, I don't have a supra

kruf 04-09-04 12:42 AM

Nope, thats aftermarket, I mean the lip spoiler that comes stock... early style... this one is kinda hard to see, but you get an idea

Wow, looking everywhere for the right spoiler on the net and I cant find any pics, maybe the ones I have seen have been rare. It is a lip style spoiler, no pedastals, mounts flush to the body. As much as I hate NASCAR, imagine a thicker, shorter, more swept version of that lip. ... Man, that may be a bad comparison... I may have to wait for the original to show everyone.

oh ok that's looking better

think of the spoiler on the back of the new mustang cobra...kind of like that, but not as thick and it doesn't curl over the trunk as much...

kruf 04-09-04 02:26 AM

Very good comparison, yeah, more like that.

no way in hell. Plus buy the time my vert is done in a few weeks it will be to fast for that supra wing. It will get ripped right off. Plus it won't look like I race for the pepboys bolt on all latino team

Er...read some more, that pic was just from some random guy who found the wrong spoiler, that one is an aftermarket ugly one on a z3, but he wants to use the stock one.

kruf 04-09-04 10:07 AM

More like this, but just a bit taller and swept back more, with side peices to taper off onto the sides.

Icemark 04-09-04 10:51 AM

Yuck on both...

sorry but you all are wrong, that "big spoiler" is stock on the 96-98 BMW Z3's that had the optional spoiler. on ALL 98-02 BMW Z3's had that lip spoiler if not a the "big" version optional spoiler. I know this because a friend of mine has actually owned 2 Z3's a 96 and a 98 he got the 98 because he hated the 1.5L engine the 96 had, the 96 had the big spoiler and the 98 had no spoiler, just the trunk was made to have that lip look on it. sorry for such a long post, had to clear this up
