yuck

So I'm stripping my junker 87, and when I got to the dash, I missed a few bolts, and the whole thing just literally shattered when I pulled at it. (the vinyl was crap anyway, but....)

Well, I just wanted to share these photos.

130,000 miles.

That's sun damage. On the inside of the vinyl. This is what you're doing to it every time you park it in the sun. People give me smack because I use the reflective windsheild covers. Well, for those poeple, I say..... this is what will happen to you.

yuck.

car also had moisture behind the dash. most likely from a overflow around the heat core fan inlet.

dang i have taken out a few dashes nothing looked like that

NOPR 09-14-06 11:07 PM

when i pulled my dash in my severely sun damaged maroon-turned-brownish-green-from-sun interior, i saw no such nastiness. i think it was something else.

well, the "burning" that I saw was only on the raised part of the driverside, over the guages, and the corrisponding part on the passenger side. There "lower" parts looked 'fine' in comparison, I wouldn't think it was anything that got soaked in or anything. All where the underfoam was dark brown, the vinyl, which I didn't photograph, was bubbling and peeling. So, yeah. Eh.

It was still disgusting.
