Yet another TPS thread (not average though)

I'll make this short and sweet:
TPS Log or Linear?
What is the range? --On my busted one I got somewhere between 100K and 500Ohms (if not smaller). Can someone please verify for me?

I believe it's linear.......but I have no proof. Just what I've observed tinkering around with that damn sensors.

I swear, that sensor is the cause of my hypertension.

Linear. The range is something like 0-5K.

I think 0 to 4-6 V (4-6 Kohm) is the range for the S4 TPS and the S5 narrow sensor.
I forget the range for the S5 full sensor.

Voltage and resistance are not the same thing.

The TPS will never output 6V because 5V is it's bias voltage.

Sorry, you're right, I was talking about the proper resistance spec when adjusting the damn thing.

4.2-4.6 volts WOT on the full range TPS I believe

lax-rotor 12-19-07 10:49 AM

So a range of 0-5000ohms is the range? wow, my TPS must have been way off (S4) I was reading around 100kohms at max.

Roen 12-19-07 11:08 AM

sorry, I seem to have confused people.

The much hated ohm method stated that spec is 1 kohm at rest and between 4-6 kohm at WOT on the S4 TPS and S5 Narrow Sensor.
