YAY I got a radio! Could anyone please help with the wiring?
Okay so before you guys post saying search and such, or that its in that sticky thread, I've had issues in the past
So anyways I got a nice sony radio for 120 which I shouldn't of spent, I got abunch of old rock cds and I'd would fucking love to go for a drive and enjoy a radio in my 7 once again :icon_tup: It's 3pm, it'd take like an hour to remove door panels, and the rear speaker covers and such to find out the wires, plus I don't know which are neg/pos which I think I had mixed up in the past (My JBL rear speakers make this weird sound with the old radio) So anyways the theif just CUT the harness for the audio, bastard :icon_no2: I could not fallow the guide in the faq, many of the wires didn't work, I was like 13 but my dad fallowed it too, being a mechanic and decent at electrical for 25 years, I'm pretty sure he could fallow colors of wires. So does anyone know which they are and could tell me? I'm going to look in the faq for which wires but I'm sure someones done it recently or so and could help out thanks mucho! :icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup: I can't wait to get done with the damn wiring :wallbash: |
So, you have a cut radio harness and you need to install a head unit into it?
That sucks! If it were me, I would go to the for sale section and get someone with a S5 parts car to cut you off the plug with some leads and wire it back in. Would be easy to wire match that! Then get an adapter to your headunit. Done. If this is the first aftermarket headunit you will have to bypass the amplifier though. https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...7&postcount=17 |
I've had 3 aftermarket radios in this car, I'm pretty good at wiring cars. I've had nothing but a pain in the ass time in the past finding the colors for the fc s5, I don'tknow if they slightly vary but my door speakers never worked (I dont think theres any amps) the dash speakers always worked with aftermakrt and the rear always worked.
The stock radio was basic w/tape player, nothing fancy so I highly doubt theres a single amp. The door speakers are blown (They got same color wires as the dash speakers) so I think they just died, no need to get them working but i just got no idea on the exact wiring, so I was hoping someone could be like right rear is brown, the black stripone is pos (example) Then I can take this laptop out there and get strippin on the wires and then it normally takes me 15mins, boom i can light a cigarette, pop in pink floyd or zeppelin and cruise :D LTBlue/Red= 12v+ LtBlue/White= +Accessory LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger Red/Black=+ Lumination White=Factory Amp Turn on Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio): LtGreen/Red= Left LtGreen/Black= Left LtGreen= Right LtGreen/Yellow=Right Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle): Brown= Left rear Brown/White= Left Rear LtBlue= Right Rear LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear that may be correct, I forget if those worked for me right in the past (From icemarks faq, as a kid i think i did this and it wasnt all right...) but regardless, which are the negatives if those are correct? |
Generally an aftermarket system won't power the amplifiers, even then they will probably suck. You might as well run new speaker wire. It will make your life a whole lot easier and its not that hard. Specially if you don't care about the door speakers.
As far as the colors go, can't help. Mines an S4. |
Theyre different?
Imma just hook it up, screw the neg/pos and such, and no time to run new wire today, plus no money for wire :( but thanks man, nice to know someone out there is friendly :) I hope sonys are decent for 120 dollars, my past head units have been "Dual" and skip on any bump my fc would encounter |
LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory ltblu/red == constant and the thick blue white stripe is 12v switched, right? Just asking cause I mixed these up before and that was a pain in the buttox hehe |
If you don't have a meter to test for + and such just use an old computer fan to test. I wouldn't trust using the colors they could be messed up now. Music is a must in the FC enjoy. I have also had great success with Kenwood units. I rarely had it skip on a bump. I have my Zune hooked up most of the time though anyway. Zune FTW!

I got
*right* yellow/blue yellow/green the green red/blue combo was left front* brown/red brown/white brown green/red green/blue blue/orange and then just a blue one it looks like blue/black blue/yellow (power ant according to icemark) Any ideas? |
Done, all works
man I should put in a application at some audio shop, im pretty quick |
Bitchin...now come help me with my haltech wiring!!
|
haha Wheres my plane ticket?
Sucks my rear speakers rattle, theyre decent jbl bookshelf speakers, idk if they hit the grill or if it rattles. The fronts rattle the dash and themselves since their stock size 2 way pioneers you cant expect crazy bass, with a sub you never hear the rattling, it sound good but man without a sub my setup sounds worse then a 80s boombox |
heh.. i have non working door speakers too. i also hate how little bass i have [eclipse 4 in in the dash, pioneer 6.5s in the back] then i ghetto rigged a 4x10 to one of the front speakers to increase sound. all running off a kenwood execlon =D
|
I can't find another cheap 10 buck amp off ebay atm
I think I'm just gonna wire my sub to the rear speakers, my friend did that with a cheap kenwood I think, he did it with 2 12's (hooked up one to left one to right side, was decent. Yeah I dunno why the door speakers dont work, they had great bass before they started breaking apart |
