Yahoo! She Runs!

Oh my god! My car has not been running for about a year and a half. I got her running for a little, just long enough to drive to Dallas and get her tuned by Rotary Performance. Unfortunately, my rear differential burnt out on the way back. After that I deployed to the desert to fight in Iraqi Freedom. Since I have been back, I haven't really had much time to mess with it. I have been trying to change out the differential. Has anyone ever tried to change out one of those things? What a pain in the ass!

Today, after almost giving up, the new LSD finally poped in! Everything else fell into place after that. The car started after a little prodding. I backed out of my driveway, reved to about 4k and droped the clutch. What a sweet jerk forward that was! I came back around and did a 7k drop for my friends. This time the tail wagged back and forth and I had to strugle with the wheel to keep her going straight. Turbos are sweet! My car used to be an N/A.

I know I have 260 horses at the rear wheel as tuned by Rotary Performance. The power curve is very flat and responsive thanks to my BNR stage 1 turbo. I am only running 7 PSI! I'm bringing her back to get tuned to about 12 PSI which should be good for around 300 horses at the wheel.

I had to stop my demonstration as the neighbors called the cops after I did a few high-speed passes and let my BOV rip. Too bad I missed the autocross meet today.

I just so happy to finally get my REX running. All the Honda guys at work are alway talking trash about how my car never works. I hope they enjoy my S5 tail lights! Look out Clovis and all local second gen owners, Bo is back!

I know this is long, but I just had to share my joy with you all!

One more thing: She seems to be running a little hot. Since I put in Haltech in my temperture guage actually moved in perportion to engine heat. It was very hot today and I coolant overflow tank was empty. I filled her up and I'll se if that fixed her.

Time to go do some more burnouts!

Thats cool, bet the N/A-> turbo thing is really rewarding once all done. Get some of those burnouts on vid for us to see ;)

BTW.. you might want to modify your sig to 10 lines or less, that is the limit. Wouldnt want a mod bitching at you or an Admin just deleting it with no warning..

Got Water Wetter in your coolant mix?

If not, get some! :)

Man that's totally awesome. I'm yanking my engine/tranny right now to do a S4 T2 conversion on my 86 N/A. Just started it today, ordered the engine and conversion kit from Kevin Landers (Rotary Resurrection) yesterday, so should have that stuff in 2-3 weeks, wahooo! :D

I hope I don't end up killing myself in this thing. I'm used to flooring it when coming out of turns. Now, when I give it just a little gas, my rear comes around. I've been very close to doing a 360 a couple of times. I guess I have to learn to ease up on the throttle. I wasn't running duel belts on the water pump/alternator pully. I installed that yesterday so I'll see if that helped. I'll go to Auto Zone and grab some water wetter too. I painted my fiber glass bumper kit yesterday so no more rice look. Now it is a black car with a big ass intercooler is about to pass you look. I'm trying to decide if I should put my sterio back in or leave it out. Any thoughts? I have a clarion deck and an Alpine sub with a built-in five channel amp. I have the sub taken out right now as I usually take it out when I race.

Rex 23,276 Mike 1 (but what a sweet one it is).

I wish I knew there was a "kit". I did mine from scratch with a Haltech, FMIC, and a custom turbo. All of this cost a pretty penny. Will you be putting in the turbo tranny and rear end? What about the hood? I personally like my N/A hood, but I was just wondering what this kit entails.

I don't have a digital camera, but I'll run outside and take some with my regular camera and check the "photos on line " box when I drop them off today.

sweet :)

Should have the pics by Friday. It is definately not a show car, but it serves it's purpose.

Where do I get Water Wetter from? They don't have it at Auto Zone or Walmart? So far it hasn't overheated, the temp just goes up when I drive hard i.e. boost. With the Haltech temparture probe it is very sensitive so I might not even have a problem, but I still want to add that Water Wetter to see if it helps.

Ask in the South RX-7 section... It includes New Mexico.
