Wtf!?!?
Ok so today I was leaning on my trunk and I noticed it really wasnt giving any, so i decided to push on the trunk to make sure my shocks were seized or anything. When I leaned on the trunk the shocks went down, but it took twice as long as normal shocks do, and they came up about twice as slowly. Guess I need new shocks, huh? BTW, car is an S5 vert with tokico blues.

i have tokico blue also...do you have any kind of lowering springs or are they stock....if they are stock then that is why it took so long to go down and up...they are made to be stiff but they dont react well with the stock springs.....im not sure what kind of springs i have on mine but i love them i dont bottom out on anything.
i would suggest getting a set of springs from racingbeat.com |

I believe they are stock springs (ride height seems normal compared to other fc's). Guess it's time for some new springs.

I also noticed that after the car has been driven for an extended period of time, that's when I start to get a "clunking" noise in the back. Do the shocks have a longer range of movement when there are used continuously?
|
the clunking is prolly bad bushings somewhere out back. The oil in the shocks does heat up after a while of driving which changes the stiffness of the shock but... that wouldnt make a difference.
|
The clunking in the back is most likely actually the rear camber links, more common for these to wear out in verts due to the extra weight i guess. I had some bad clunking in my vert, replaced the camber links and it went away. I have a slightly used(less than 1000 miles) set if interested let me know. You can also get new ones from Mazdatrix Click Here all the way at the bottom of the page they also have adjustable ones too.
|
Is there a way to tell if the rear camber links are bad?
|
?
|
Yeah, drive around. If the rear end clunks and creeks they are bad. I'm not sure if you can tell by just looking at them. I didn't compare the new ones to the used ones. :(

camper
my vert has made a clunck noise since I had it. Never could find a problem.
