this guy is freaking nuts

silverrotor 07-06-03 11:29 PM

Funny you should say that...someone Is selling an AE for $4000 can In the Canadian Forum. It has something like 5000 k on a rebuild.

fastrotaries 07-06-03 11:31 PM

a bit too much and it doesn't even have the AE rims. I would only consider it, if it was ALL original.

converse_kid 07-06-03 11:33 PM

hahaha that guy is a moron i would never pay that much u could buy an nice fd at that price

Liquid Anarchy 07-06-03 11:38 PM

I qouldn't pay 15,000 PESOS for an AE

rx7rotary89 07-07-03 12:03 AM

damn, with that kind of money u get a nice 3rd gen twin turbo, id say bag that, that car isnt worth that much

now 07-07-03 12:06 AM

i thought the emblems on the back were supposed to be white.
I know they are on my AE
matt

T2R7 07-07-03 12:42 AM

$8000 buy it now would be more appropriate. i know a guy with 22k original on his 87 TII with over 300HP and he only wants 12 or 13 k

Dan H 07-07-03 01:02 AM

Way too much. $8k yeah. $13K? No way... I'd buy a slightly abused FD. ;)

As far as I can remember, the 10AE had white badges on the rear. It's been a while since I saw one in the showroom, though (yes, I'm old, lol). It could be an early model vs. later model issue because I think the 10AE production started early.

Also, I'm not sure about the 10AE, but my 88 SE had a sticker on the air box cover, and I don't see one on that car (it probably got removed with the massive steam cleaning job, lol). It is missing the battery cover, and from the picture it looks like the rubber part of the gas pedal is gone. The car looks excellent for the most part.

I wonder how it blew through a clutch in only 37K miles if the car was driven so well? My original clutch lasted over 96k miles, and that was with autocrossing! Also, it makes you wonder what happened to the original wheels.

ThinkGeoffrey 07-07-03 01:29 AM

No way!
Crack is wack and that owner is on crack!

Detriuch 07-07-03 03:29 AM

um no. someone needs to get off that pipe. every month someone is doing this!!

darknation329 07-07-03 03:31 AM

too bad it doesnt come with those "anti detonation spark plugs" hahaha

GT-X FC3S 07-07-03 04:38 AM

I thought I over paid 6k for my 10th AE. That guy is crazy.

jetfire76 07-07-03 07:30 AM

that's nuts!!! hell, i KNOW i overpaid for my good condition AE at $3700 but a starting bid at $8k is STILL too much!! and yeah, the rear badges should be white.

Terrh 07-07-03 08:05 AM

I'd pay $15K for a MINT 10AE. That car is not mint. Where the hell are the wheels? 37k miles? that's kinda high for a collector car.

I'd probably pay $20K for one in brand new condition. Maybe even more..

ZachSpazz 07-07-03 08:24 AM

This guy has been trying to sell this car for over a year now. I remember seeing it in Autotrader, and just marveling at how exorbitantly priced it was.

Mr. Gadget 07-07-03 09:27 AM

I believe I remember this car reappearing a while back with the usual deadbeat bidder BS. Have to wonder if it’s a clone (and a bad one at that).

Hmmmmmmm . . . . . .

Icemark 07-07-03 09:52 AM

Dealer retail for excellent condition for that car is only $5500 and without the OEM wheels and the damage to the leather, it really is only good condition.

Private party for excellent condition is only $4000

And that is with rasieing the value of the car an extra $1200 for low mileage.

Icemark 07-07-03 10:11 AM

I emailed them on the clutch and wheels... they replied:

i don't have the stock wheels, i've looked at a few sets here and there, and
will probably end up buying a set. i hate the look of them, myself, but i
agree that to be totally right, it needs the wheels. i'm not sure why the
clutch went out so early, but the car IS fifteen years old, regardless of
the mileage. i guess i am basing why i bought it on the fact that it is a
clean, no paintwork, no dings, no repairs needed car, rather than a high
mileage, dinged up, repainted and restored car.

gergrx7 07-07-03 10:14 AM

15k haha what is this dude smoking. but u know there some idiot who will pay for it. damn rich basterds(sp?)

West TX RX-7 07-07-03 10:18 AM

For that kind of money it should have under 10 miles on it and never been registered and kept in a climate controled garage. He must really think he has soemthing and looks as though he's going to be able to hang onto it for a while.

pmr2000 07-07-03 11:49 AM

I would say 7-8K only if you found an RX-7 fan. If it was not for us guys nobody would even want these things! We can't even get Japanese cars recognized as collectibles from most classic insurance companies. Maybe the 240Z that's about it.

n4ji 07-07-03 09:11 PM

There's a guy in the for sale/wanted forum with a 10AE that's better than this, and only has 12k miles and he's only asking $10k!

casio 07-07-03 09:21 PM

so he bought it with the intention to sell? man, ol dude might as well hang onto the car and get his moneys worth. drive the bitch. put 20K miles on it in one year. collecting cars is a weird habit. i prefer the rush of driving, not the jay leno feel of just owning. actually he probably drives some of those cars. i'm talking out my ass.
