Would this be worth it?

I recently pulled my engine and now i'm finaly going to start planning my process of what i'm going to do.

I've been thinking hard about this and i was wondering if this would be worth it.

Rotary Resurrection Rebuild, with street port, emissions removed and 3mm Apex seals

Racing Beat True Dual, engine back exhaust

S4 to S5 intake swap

Custom made true CAI

and Lightweight Flywheel

and if possible Rotor beveling

should i this?

Icemark 01-17-06 02:22 PM

is this a Turbo that you are planning tons of HP and no tuning that you want 3mm apex seals???

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 02:25 PM

no n/a. sorry i forgot to include that.

i read that the 3mm apex seals last longer.

but i could be misinformed

Jager 01-17-06 02:26 PM

Why do you need 3MM apex seals? Alot of boost (I KNOW there isn't boost) or no tuning?

True Duals = gay, unless you can prove or something can prove they are better then a collected system they aren't worth the money and weight IMHO. Since any other exhaust uses scanvanging except for the "True Dual" setup. Search True Duals and you'll see yourself wasting time.

S4-S5 intake swap = good, don't forget VDI

I don't follow up on rotor bevelling that much. I haven't seen any documented gains, more power to whoever wants to be a hero and go ahead and do it.

I'de invest in a SAFC II and wideband. A good clutch should be taken care of while the engine it out. And why not any weight reduction? Emissions, PS, AC and so on.

RotaryEvolution 01-17-06 02:27 PM

Mark was just pointing out that 3mm seals are overkill, who told you you needed them?

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 02:35 PM

no one said i needed the 3mm apex seals, just read they lasted longer.

no powersteering, and the only interior i have is are things need to drive the car, and the gauges.

all emissions will be removed like i said.

and i like the sound of true duals.

oh and i had a rather long thread about true duals a while back, and only the people that didn't have them seemed to complain about them.

Take into consideration there might be a reason that they don't have them considering most of the science of an exhaust and the design of true duals doesn't match.

Honestly if you think they are so great go buy them. Just don't expect anything but 150-160 HP without a fuel computer with them since they aren't doing really anything.

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 02:47 PM

no one that actually has true duals complains, and most of them have had a collected exhaust also. have you had a true dual exhaust?

Jager 01-17-06 02:51 PM

I don't need one to know how much of a waste of time they are.

Think about how an exhaust works before you go buying them. I think you'd find out that its not truely worth it.

Also after spending $1300 or so, you HAVE to like the exhaust.

And those people that love true duals all run 16's ;) (few runs in the low 17's). And the fastest I've seen from a reliable source was 15.5 and he had EVERY power mod next to a standalone while keeping his car NA.

Tell me WHY they are good?

Also thats going to be one ugly car without an interior :(. What I waste.

And FYI, its your first note of emissions being gone ;).

arghx 01-17-06 02:55 PM

If you are planning on running a street ported motor then you are gonna want a collected system to take advantage of scavenging.

3mm seals are worthless for an N/A. They don't seal as effectively and have greater frictional losses--1st gen's had 3mm seals and then Mazda switched to 2mm.

That was the thread start

look right after "street port"

and i'm not going for looks.

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 02:57 PM

ok i get the idea.. no 3mm haha

thats $400 extra bucks to start my suspension

Ah, oops. You still haven't explained why true duals are worth it?

Didn't you waste everyone's time twice now with "What Should I Buy" threads where they went absolutely no where?

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 03:08 PM

my last thread about it wasn't a "what should i buy" thread.

it was a thread asking what the gains of a true dual system were.

and anyways even if they arn't worth it. like i said, i like the sound of true duals.

Thats one expensive sound :(.

Good luck however and I was referring to your standalone thread. Sorry to come across as a dick, but lately I've been annoyed by the people claiming that true duals is so l337.

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 03:27 PM

haha its alright, i was a litle rude too. truce?

i enjoy the sound of true duals even if they are expensive.

Jager 01-17-06 03:36 PM

Its not a problem! Of course truce ;). If you have the $$ more power to you :).

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 03:38 PM

yeah right now all my money is going towards my rebuild. i'd love to do it myself, but i figure why risk me screwing it up and having problems down the road, when i can have someone rebuild it right the first time.

NeCr0mStR 01-17-06 07:34 PM

so are true duals worth it for a street port with a supercharger? Or still not worth it?

And even without the supercharger, more air out means more air in.

I was always under the impression that if you take in more air, you need to get rid of the exhaust as fast as you can, sure you need some back pressure since it helps with torque. but honestly if your pushing 200hp or more from a motor I would think the torque is gonna be there anyways so what little you lose with the extra out flow won't matter that much.

correct me if I am wrong, since I am going on the theories I have always learned with a normal piston motor.

thanks

rx7legend 01-17-06 08:17 PM

hey man, you can also do a custom dual exhaust and just buy the racing beat mufflers, they are the heart of that exhaust, without them there like any other exhaust on the market.

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 08:21 PM

no the heart of the racing beat true dual system is the fact that it is actaully truely a dual exhaust.

two seperate pipes all the way back.

not a header leading to a collected exhaust.

NeCr0mStR 01-17-06 08:21 PM

well I already bought the RB race street race header... so I just wonder how many other RB pieces I need to complete it... do I need the presilencer? from what I have gathered yes was the answer but I could be wrong... so someone slap me and tell me if I am...

jerd_hambone 01-17-06 08:25 PM

the roadrace header pretty much needs the entire road race setup.

it was all made to work together as a complete setup.

the only thing not needed are the mufflers.

NeCr0mStR 01-17-06 08:27 PM

ok thats what I thought... which is fine... I don't mind spending the extra $$$ for it, because I haven't scrimped on anything else I needed... so why start now.

Thus far I have about 8-9 grand in the car between the car, motor and all the parts... so... why stop when I can just charge it... LOL
