would the cold solder in the cpu cause the car to reset it self ??

i have a problem with my car reseting itself. like the clock doesnt hold time( works just doesnt hold the time and resets after i turn the car off). the radio and everything resets. But my disc changer for some reason holds its memory.

example . i resoldered my clock today. put it in , works great now. set it . drove to work . then at break time i went to the car to eat lunch and opened the door . the interior lights didnt go on. then aftr a few seconds they went on. and everything was normally the clock came on and read 1:00 when it was like 830. i dont know .. im just looking for some help with this

anyone have any clues?

You have a blown room fuse

Yes I believe it is the 7.5 amp room fuse. I had that problem when I blew the fuse doing some interior work.

but would the lights come on if the fuse is blown ??

I honestly dont remember. Why don't you just replace the fuse and see if it solves your problems?

well it wasnt the fuse. wonder where i should go from there

Did all this stuff start after you resoldered the clock? Might have shorted a couple of pins together while soldering, and didn't realize it. Not enough to blow the fuse, but enough to make the room circuit & clock screwy...

if the fuse was blown, it wouldn't come on at all. THeres no such thing as a partially blown fuse.

No, because the circuits can be back fed and cause it to seem like it is working at times.

For example... the clock only working with the key on, or working as long as the doors are open are classic examples of a blown fuse, and back feeding through the CPU to the clock/warning panel.

well what i found is that for some reason the fuses wont stay in the slot. like the female connections are not holding the male end tightly. they will come out if i hit a big enough bump. my radio and room fuse are both like this .. i think that has something to do with it.. i tried bending the prongs in opposite directions to keep pressure on the connections to keep them tight but sometimes they loosen up

Yeah, pretty common if someone used (shudder) fuse taps. Fuse taps are often used by bad installers putting in Cell phones or other accessories, and they will really stretch out the fuse holders to start making intermittent connections for the fuses.

The most common sympton of a fuse tap being used was that one side of the fuse holder is nice and tight, while the other side is real loose.
