Worn Synchro's
How much would it cost to replace worn synchros? I am sure that the synchros on my cars are fucked and I need to replace them...*sob*

I would assume that would be none to cheap...
Why dont you try cheaper alternatives like a new bushing kit, or switching to REDLINE synthetic Gear Oil... that will help like crazy... |

or
go to a junkyard and get a turbo2 trans for acouple dollars and do it your self, or have installed with red line fluids i blew my N/A trans up at atco lettin the clutch go at 9k rpm's and gettin too much traction... then i did a T2 trans swap, got a flywheel, clutch and trans and swapped it all in myself and never had ne problems again, then i totalled it... :( stupid drunk drivers
and to rebuild its gona cost over a grand to do... |
Red Line
I switched over to Red Line transmission fluid. Made a noticeable difference right away. My 3rd gear synchro was the worst, and after switching I could downshift into 3rd without making terrible noises.
After a week or so I noticed that everything got even smoother, not perfect or anything, but definetly much better in all gears. Highly recomended |
redline
ive heard that sometimes redline has actually mad the situation worse because its just to slick. is this wrong?
|
Mobil 1
the only complaints I've heard about being too slick is from Mobil 1, or similar. Red Line advertises that has balanced viscousity or something.
to change you need like 4 quarts of the stuff, and a pump to get it in. all and all it probably costs less the $40, depending on where you get your oil from. And takes an hour, maybe. very worthwhile |
where can I get Redline then?
|
You can get Redline Gear Oil from summitracing.com it cost about 8 bux a quart... your tranny is 2.6 quarts capacity so you need to buy three quarts, and... its MT-90 Redling Gear Oil..
I hope that helps... |
