Wiring s4 alternator from scratch

Good morning guys,I have 86 GXL that I'm swapping in an s4 TII motor and drive train. I'm 98% done with the swap and I am stumped on how to wire my alternator. I'm using an s4 TII EMISSIONS harness only because I found it brand new for a good price. I'm aware that using my NA EMISSIONS harness would have been a little more plug and play than this one but you gotta piss with the cock you got lol. That being said, on an s4 the plug on the back of the ALT is serviced on the NA EMSSIONS HARNESS, which I'm no longer using. Also, on a TII the alt plug is on the battery harness (which i don't have either) . I've found a 12v ignition source for the R terminal by using the B/W wire form the green connector on the driver side fender by the coil pack. My trouble now is I can't seem to figure out how to properly wire the L terminal to the "Dash". My car does not have an ABS unit so I can't use that connection as suggested in old posts on the forum. Can you help me better understand what is needed to get my alternator wired up? Also I'm using a rtek ecu ver. 1.7 if it matters. I've looked over the wiring diagrams from foxed.com and i found that the female side of connector (FEM-01) still has the W/B and B/W wires. I still have my old NA harness but it is hacked to shit from the PO. So I've managed to make my own harness using the pins from the NA harness and splicing them but when I turn the key my idoit lights dont light up. Well they do but only select lights come on (e-brake and hatch open.) (which the hatch is open). I've tested voltage at both the L and the R terminals. I did notice the L terminal when key is turned to on it reads about 11.3 volts and the R terminal has the same as the battery (12.8v). Any help is appreciated.
** my alternator gets extremely hot when in use and doesn't put out more than 12v. I fear i may have burned it up somehow.**
battery is an Odessy pc680
alternator is brand new

Use the info in this link to wire your alternator.

When you are satisfied with your wiring start your car and disconnect the negative terminal. If your car continues to run then your alternator is good.
