wiring cheap, crappy gauges
I bought a set of autolite gauges from Bato zone, cuz my whole cluster died when the mechanic was working on it. so now i have a mechanical oil pressure, water temp, and voltage meter. where do i hook them up at? obviously sending units, but the water pump neck doesnt have a sending unit on it. so where is it? im sure i can get the other 2 with some digging around, but help me if you can.
thanks guys. |
They usually come with their own sensors. I put mine in the Electric fan temp sesnor spot. Since I don't have an electric fan I took it out and put it in.
It is located right behind the alternator on the side of the water pump housing neck. I just used a thread adpater and put it right in. As for the other gauges I don't know. |
you need to install the new sending units for the new gauges into the engine.
you should just try to fix yours.... the mech should fix it for free if he broke it. |

yeah like what he said. but if you are bent on getting new gauges I would spend maybe the little extra and get an electrical oil pressure gauge so that hot oil won't be going into the car :\ I got mine from autozone and it was electrical with the sending unit, wiring, all the p/t fittings and, instructions for like 59 bucks. and it works wounderfully!
