Wire from Electrical Harness help?

Hey guys i hacked up my eletrical harness to put a sleeve over it awhile ago, and now that i have no control over my headlights nor do i have spark, im checking up on this harness again. Can anyone tell me where or what this wire plugs into? The car is an s5 na.

Thanks guys!

This is the closest picture I could find to the wire you have snipped.

Now this harness has been modified for a megasquirt but the important reason is why. This part of the harness has the Ignition switched power to the Leading and Trailing coils and also has the Ignition control wires and Tach output wires along with others but this will help you for the spark problem.

Picture thanks to Aaron Cake

Wires / Colors / What they do

EGI 30 AMP FUSE WIRE | BLACK / YELLOW TRACER | 12v POWER TO IGNITION COILS
IGT-T | BLUE / YELLOW TRACER | TRAILING IGNITION
IGT-L | GREEN / YELLOW TRACER | LEADING IGNITION
IGS-T | BROWN / YELLOW TRACER | IGNITION SELECT BETWEEN T1 AND T2 COILS
IGF-T | BLUE / GREEN TRACER | IGNITION CONFIRMATION

Now the black wire with the yellow stripe is hot when ignition is on, it is the wire you are asking about it's why you dont have spark.

Please do not hack up wires it always ends up badly.

Best of luck

So does anyone have a picture on what the plug looks like?

kagoostin 08-30-12 09:25 AM

Or where exactly should i connect it to

Slideways FC3S 08-30-12 01:31 PM

3 Attachment(s)
On the strut tower there is a condenser its a black box tiny 1/2" by 1/2" square bolted to the strut tower under the trailing coil pack it goes there. You can see it without removing anything. Or it connects back to the harness matching up with the black and yellow wire from the other side of the black multi pin plug. Im willing to bet it goes to the condenser.

Every time I try to add attachment from rx7club app it crashes but I will post a pic in a bit

Nvm it loaded the pics Im loving this app.

kagoostin 08-30-12 04:41 PM

Well that condensor was already plugged on to something

Slideways FC3S 08-30-12 05:29 PM

Sounds to me like you should buy a harness or scavenger hunt that wire. Sometime you gotta bite that bullet

What color is the wire that is plugged into the condenser?

kagoostin 08-30-12 07:08 PM

Its connected to a yellow and red wire with a white plug and its weird because theres another yellow and red wire but a different kind of plug and is black

kagoostin 08-30-12 07:08 PM

And what wire should i scavenger?

Slideways FC3S 08-30-12 07:51 PM

Yellow wire with red stripe is for the condenser on the transmission. The one Im talking about is under the trailing coil on the strut tower its directly in front of the brake booster. If you get to the fuses you have gone to far.

Would a condensor really make the idfference whether it sparks or not?

kagoostin 09-02-12 04:15 PM

I cant seem to find a store that sells a condenser. I was also wondering if it was fine to hook up my ignition wires directly to the ecu

Not likely. The item can be purchased at Mazdatrix or the dealer if necessary.

kagoostin 09-02-12 11:45 PM

I cannot find the kind of condenser slideways is talking about but i only saw this one on ebay and mazdatrix and yet its not for an fc

Ok here is the short and simple. Yes you meed the condenser. 12v runs through the coil, the ecu cuts ground to the coil, the coils energy (magnetic field) collapses inducing high voltage to the secondary coil who's ground is the spark plug. The condenser creates a resonant circuit between the primary coil windings and the condenser bouncing energy back and forth from the condenser to the coil. The condenser is used to make the coil pack keep up with the with the engine's speed. Are coil packs has a relatively slow charging time the condenser makes up for that. It also doesn't allow voltage spikes from the primary coils collapse to go back to the battery.
