Wiper arms look at yours..

OK guys I have a question I pulled my wiper arms last night so I could clean them up and repaint them.. and I noticed that mine have the following on them (near the hold down nut)

DL
PL

now mine were on the car as

PL on the drivers side
DL on the passenger side

I am not sure if it matter or maybe it is right but I figured DL was drivers side and PL would be passenger side

if u guys could can u tell me what your wiper ars say on them and where they are located as in side of the car.

this is on the top of the arm next to the nut

easy to see with the hood down

clokker 03-29-07 09:13 AM

Mine say "PL" on both.
Go figure.

SpooledupRacing 03-29-07 09:26 AM

Ill look again maybe the "dl" is actually a "PL"

Turbo II Rotor 03-29-07 09:29 AM

I have DL on the pass and PL on the drivers side.

riverzendz 03-29-07 09:58 AM

DL has been on the drivers side and PL has been on the passengers side on all 3 of mine. Previous owner probably took them off and put them on the other side without knowing.

I'd have thought that the codes referred to a slight difference (maybe the angle of the arm?) but my dual "PL" set sits exactly like yours (i.e., horizontal at rest).
Given the provenance/history of my car I'm actually amazed it has Mazda wiper arms on it at all, much less the correct ones.

So basically, I dunno what the codes are for.

TehMonkay 03-29-07 10:03 AM

FSM says DL is drivers side, and PL is passenger side.

RX3SP 03-29-07 10:05 AM

The arm with the "DL" mark is the driver's side and the arm with the "PL" mark on it is for the passenger side. That's a fact!

CyberPitz 03-29-07 10:10 AM

Why code them if they are the same? Kind of strange. I'll have to go look at mine when I go home.

Now for the $64 question...what's the difference between the two parts?

And DO NOT say, "Well, one has a "P" and the other has a "D"".

j9fd3s 03-29-07 10:13 AM

D = drivers side
P = passaneger side
L = left hand drive

they are different shaped and length....

clokker 03-29-07 10:19 AM

Hmmm.
The differences must be pretty bloody subtle- Dave's was running reversed and mine are mis-paired, yet they operate effectively.
I wonder if it's worth the effort to hunt down the correct one?

One says PL and one says DL.

Actually it appears as though the DL one is longer.

You know the saying. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

SpooledupRacing 03-29-07 11:01 AM

well I pulled mine so I will put them on the correct way THANK YOU all of u guys I was a little confused!!

Dave

Turbo II Rotor 03-29-07 11:38 AM

Well I just changed mine to the correct way and now my hood does not rub the drivers wiper.

NZConvertible 03-30-07 07:13 AM

D = driver
P = passenger
L = left hand drive
R = right hand drive

Hence mine are marked DR and PR.

CyberPitz 03-30-07 07:46 AM

Amazingly, BOTH of mine are on correct. Tis weird.

The only difference I can see in them is the drivers side has an...indention or something on it already, I'm assuming so you can have your hood up and wipe your windows...other than that, I didn't see anything different.
