windshield washer warning light

anybody here know how to get rid of the buzzing from the windshild washer warning light...i know its cause im low in fluid but i dont have that sprayer on my hood anyways and its useless so i just want to take that stupid sound off...

misterstyx69 03-02-07 02:20 AM

Wow..A wierd question..Finally!..LOL!(just kidding)..I am curious about this though..I am wondering if there is a Seperate wire for a sensor on the jug?.If so what would happen if it was disconnected or Bypassed>?.idea though. Can you Get that part out of the jug and Somehow Glue it so that it doesn't set off the Sensor?

NZConvertible 03-02-07 02:52 AM

There is no buzzer for the washer fluid, only low oil, low coolant and redline.

BlueTII 03-02-07 05:39 AM

There is a sensor in the bottom of the resevoir, just unplug it. The sensor has a float in it, so when it gets low it activates the light. By unplugging it the circuit will be open.

+1

If you're having the buzzer go off (really loud, you'll know if it's the low oil/coolant/redline buzzer) it's not from your low windshield washer fluid. It's likely one of your warning lights doesn't work. Check your coolant level and oil level.

Just for the idiot light::::::::: remove the AFM/FILTER. Look for a black plug with four wires. One wire Green, one Blue, one Black and another Blue with orange stripe.

Extract the GREEN wire from the plug and cover then end with shrink tubing or tape to prevent it from touching gnd. Then reinstall the plug.

Or you could cut the green wire which is not advisable since it's just as easy to remove the wire from the plug. But if you do, leave enough wire length at the plug so you can splice it back together at a later date.

Or just put some $2 windshield washer fluid in your car. :p:

Because the float itself fails. You can empty the bottle and turn it upside down and the light will go out. Put it right side up and the light comes on. Put water to the top and it FAILS. Been there, seen that.

NZConvertible 03-02-07 03:21 PM

But since he's complaining about a buzzer, it's obviously not a washer problem! ;)

sevenfc 03-02-07 03:30 PM

well i just thought that the washer was buzzing cause thats the only lite thats on and the buzzer is on constantly..

NZConvertible 03-02-07 03:52 PM

Silly idea, but have you filled up the reservior to at least make the light go out?

The low-washer warning is not connected to any buzzer, so it's something else. Exactly where is the sound coming from. The redline/coolant/oil buzzer is in the instrument cluster, and there's also a beeper in the CPU by the driver's foot for lights on, key in, etc.

Have you checked the oil and coolant (in the radiator) to be sure?

I know that. Really. I'm just commenting about how sometimes water alone will not solve a washer low light.

My5ABaby 03-02-07 04:08 PM

If it's the redline/coolant/oil buzzer then you'll know it. That buzzer is made to be heard at redline so you know it's loud.

Here's a quick reference...

"EEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..."

:p:

NCross 03-02-07 07:18 PM

just remove the resevoir.

rotarybeat1287 03-02-07 10:30 PM

I know I am getting old, but...

Windsheild fluid warning light?

I've had my vert since new, and for the life of me, I never remember seeing such a warning light.

Is it on the 88 model vert? If so, where is this light located?

When you get in the car and just turn the key to ON and not start the engine, all the warning lights should come on. So I assume you did that already and didn't see a washer light.

It could be the convertible does not have one???? Maybe another convertible owner could pipe in one way or the other.

ON my 87 it's on the top row, third light from the left.

micah 03-03-07 10:35 AM

When you turn the key to ON, which light doesn't come on? Thats the one that is buzzing. :)

I would stop driving your car until you know more.. It COULD be really bad. I would err on the side of caution.

All FC's had a low washer warning light in the warning cluster. If you never noticed this you're either really anal at regularly filling the reservioir of you never used the washers. ;)

micah 03-03-07 09:20 PM

I love it when my washer fluid is somewhat low.. I can use it as a G meter around corners. If the light doesn't come on, I'm not hitting the corners fast enough.

mcgarret 03-03-07 10:46 PM

My washer warning light flickers in hard corners. Fine by me though, gives me a target to aim for.

micah 03-03-07 10:49 PM

Exactly....

I noticed he said it, I was just giving the simplest solution. Windshield washer fluid is about $3 (or something). Hell, buy some, fill it up, and give it to his brother or something.

Here's the washer fluid light on an S4:

I think the S5 is in the same place.

rotary#10 09-01-08 02:15 PM

on ( Washer Fuild Light ) an S5 its in the far right upper corner closest to the time/ clock
( that never works on my FC):wallbash:
