will no airpump and cats pass emmissions?

id like to pull my air pump, i live in NC and we have inspections here. Id like to know if i pull my airpump and run a gutted cat most of the time but install a cat for the day or 2 a year to get it inspected is it gonna pass with no airpump..

dont worry about the visual part of the inspection... this question is about the actual test readings.

What does the airpump do to keep the cats from clogging? Does it help lower the readings?

most likely a big no on that one.

as long as the readings are good with cat as normal but no airpump i am good...

then ill take off the cat when it passes and save it for next year.

negative. Airpump is needed to add more oxygen to left over fuel that has not been ignited yet. It doesn't take long to stick the airpump back on anyways.

When I have to pass emissions once a year I:

put back on stock cat/pre cat
put on stock airpump
run a line from the airpump to the cat

passes with flying colors.

ACV and EGR don't even come into play.

umm how does the tid mod come into play.. i guess you have to put the stock tid back on too...

so the airpump pumps air INTO the cat? hmm

hmmm ok i guess ill have to hang on to the stock stuff and do like that.

You can do the TID mod, it won't affect emissions. There is a probe on the s4 that does plug back into the s4 TID, but I simply capped it off and I still passed.
