Will an FD waterpump and housing fit an S4 motor?

Just wondering, do the bolts line up at all?

BlaCkPlaGUE 01-02-06 12:06 AM

Yes they do. It has not been confirmed if the front cover interfears with the waterpump housing tho. Most likely it does.

doesn't the FD waterpump spin in the opposite direction?

I think this is true.

It doesn't matter. If your using the fd housing/pump, then you're going to have to use the fd serpentine system, in wich, it will spin the pump in the correct direction.

Cool, thanks! Now if I only had a housing to see if it fits...

FCNAred 01-02-06 01:19 AM

i've done it, my setup had a cosmo main pulley and standard FD alternator and pulley. The bolts line up but you need to studs from an FD front cover or some long bolts as the FD waterpump housing is about a half inch thicker than the FD one. The gasket and everything is the same

So I'd need,
housing/pump
FD alt (using the FD alt kit?)
pulleys (stock ones?)
serp. belt
the longer bolts

anything else?
thanks

yea, cosmo crank pully, gasket, you prob need the greddy waterpump pulley for the FD pump or its going to slip.

RotaryResurrection 01-05-06 01:51 AM

Yes, it will fit, with the longer studs. THe connection at the front iron is the same bolt pattern and gasket/passage size. There should be no interference with the front cover or CAS, but I've never verified. The housing is not any wider than an FC housing, just thicker/deeper. THe lower outlet MAY hit the front cover but I sort of doubt it.

OF course you'll need the FD alt, thermostat housing, altered radiator hoses, and FD crank pully with a spacer made up to replace the thickness of the trigger wheel you won't be using on the FC. Also the FD alternator bracket is different so you should use it. With no air pump and a stock WP pulley and crank pulley, you need a 29-29.5" 4 or 5 rib belt.

EDIT: I have all this stuff available if you need to buy...I even have greddy waterpump and alternator pullies I can sell.
