Will 17x9 all round look wierd in this situation?
 

Guys,

I'm building up a car (very slowly) to run the local hillclimbs and open track days, which aren't governed by specific rules. I want to build the car in a Japanese style (The RE-A FC2000) as inspiration, but not a copy.

I want to use 17x9 rims at all four corners with 255 wide tyres. They way I figure it, a 17x9 +35mm rim fits in the back no problem, and a 17x8 +35 fits in the front no problem. If I swap the front rim for a 17x9 +22 then the clearance to the suspension is exactly the same as for 8" rim (which is pretty close), but it'll put the extra inch out from the guard.

I plan to use Panspeed style bolt on fenders to oversome the extra width, but is this going to make the car look wierd with the front wheels being wider (in terms of track), than the rear? I know the Amemiya car ran 17x9 all round, how did they do it? Anyone else done it and have pics?

i don't think it will look weird at all, not that looks should matter on a track car anyway. a lot of top Japanese tuners have been running wider front tires on cars for a long time and it really doesn't look weird when you see the lap times those cars are putting down.

i think REA did it just how you are, simply running wider fenders in front. no crazy special fab here.

Thanks man. Yeah the looks don't really worry me (well, maybe a tiny bit :) ). I was just thinking of front wheel drive drag cars, with big slicks on the front! Thought it might look odd!

+22 should work, if you run +20 with wide fenders and coil overs you might fit a 265.

Thanks dude, but I want to run 255 all round. The wheels I want don't come in a +20 anyway (although a small spacer would fix that).
